Demon présente le tout premier coffret Dodgy "The A&M Years", qui couvre la période d’activité du groupe dans les années 90. Comprenant 8CD et 128 titres au total, le coffret comprend les trois albums studio classiques "The Dodgy Album", "Homegrown" et "Free Peace Sweet".
Le coffret comprend également des faces B, des titres bonus rares, des titres live et des remixes tirés des singles du groupe. En plus des 8CD, le coffret comprend un livret avec des photos et des souvenirs rares, un livre de poche et une brochure, ainsi que des notes piste par piste. This wonderful box set is well worth picking up. It includes just about everything the band released in the ‘90’s. Their first album (included here) is for me their finest hour - great songs, great performances. The band has been slightly critical of the production, I don’t know why - it’s sounds fantastic. The next two albums are just as good in my view. All their “B” sides are here in one place, this was an era when bands gave their fans value for their money and this material is often as strong as what appeared on their albums. Dodgy were also a great live band and I saw them twice in the ‘90’s and the live cd is a great reminder of that. The remix cd is not that essential but it’s ok.
Highly recommended.

Moins connus qu'Oasis et autres Blur, un peu oubliés aujourd'hui, les Dodgy étaient pourtant de sacrés représentants de la Britpop. Mélodies époustouflantes, harmonies vocales à tout va, interprétation au cordeau,... Tout était de la meilleure qualité. Leur trois albums sont repris ici. Tous valent le détour. Le premier pourra sembler légèrement trop uniforme (comme les premiers Beatles), le troisième peut-être un peu trop disparate (comme les derniers Beatles), mais c'est celui du milieu qui s'impose comme un véritable chef d'œuvre (comme les Beatles de la période intermédiaire). Rien à jeter. Plaisir suprême, les albums sont enrichis (singles, demos, versions alternatives... on passe de 3 à 8 CD) et contrairement à ce qu'on observe souvent, ici presque tout est bon à prendre. Tout au plus concèdera-t-on entendre quelques longueurs sur l'ultime CD de remixes). Pas de quoi cependant gâcher le plaisir des retrouvailles avec ce merveilleux trio. Malheureusement, leur goût affirmé (et souvent réitéré) pour le cannabis contribuera à leur donner une image caricaturale de frères Pétards britanniques qui fera passer au second plan la qualité de leurs enregistrements. Dommage, mais ne manquez pas l'occasion de re-découvrir Dodgy. C'est vraiment excellent.

I have been really impressed with this particular box set of the A&M dodgy albums which includes pretty much every dodgy release on the Label - The Dodgy Album, Homegrown, Free Peace Sweet, all B-sides, Live recordings released as b-sides, alternate takes and remixes.

The boxset itself is very well presented with a solid outer box which holds x4 cardboard gatefold disc holders for each album, and contains the original artwork / cover. Each gatefold contains 2 discs - one for the album, one for the b-sides and each disc is numbered 1 through 8. The final "album" is a disc of live b-sides and remixes. As well as the discs, the set contains 4 button badges in a small plastic bag and a very well presented booklet which contains a huge range of photographs of the band / tickets / promo posters from the 90s as well as a track by track break down of each album track by the band which offers a nice insight in to the songs and how they came together. The booklet also contains an introduction by Radio 6's Matt Everett which talks about how he came to admire and meet the band when working as a drummer for Menswear. The box set also contains a photo of the band from the 90s, which I was lucky enough to have signed as part of the amazon exclusive edition.

I won't comment on the content of each disc too much as there are LOADS of music reviews out there on them, but in my view the albums and b-sides are superb, the live versions do a great job of capturing the energy and natural talent of the band playing live, but the remix cd is total and utter guff with many of the tracks sounding boring, dated, or at worst just awful electronica remixed to the point of it being too detached from the original material for it to be enjoyable. It doesn't take away from the box set but it does little to add to it either.

If your buying this set your either a massive fan or someone looking to "get in to" the band. In either case, this box does an excellently job as it's so well put together and wonderfully presented. Between the music, presentation and extras, this really is the "go to" box set for Dodgy. I would 100% recommend it!

I have everything Dodgy have released over the years and class myself as a fairly obsessive fan. They were the soundtrack to my teenage years (I was born in 1978) and they were my favourite band (Jellyfish a very very close second). This collection is superb - some of my singles don't get played that much, but this set means you get to hear them all in a more concentrated format.
Signed by the band, brilliant. The badges will be worn with pride.

This is an incredible set. Fantastic pop songs, great vocal harmonies and very cutting lyrics. Listen to UKRIP if you doubt me. They can jam and rock out if they need too, listen to grass man.
The live disk is great, I just wish they put an whole concert on it.
But listen to the live disk reminds me of seeing them live back in the day.
