Former RCB coach Mike Hesson has lauded KKR after the team qualified for the playoffs in the Indian Premier League. KKR became the first team this season to achieve qualification after they beat MI at the Eden Gardens on Saturday, 11 May. Speaking on Jio Cinema after the match, Hesson said that KKR thoroughly deserved the playoffs spot and were the real deal in the IPL.
Hesson argued that KKR had match-winners in every position of their playing XI, who could turn the fate of the game on their day. Hesson said that KKR's biggest strength is that they bat really deep and have explosive hitters through the line-up.

KKR have secured the playoffs position and thoroughly deserved it. I mean, their performance throughout this IPL has been exceptional. They've got so many match winners, you know, in their batting lineup, they bat deep. Anyone on their given day can win the game," Mike Hesson said on Jio Cinema after KKR's win vs MI.
"We've seen how the openers and the top order do it, but they've got all that power at the back end as well. Even Ramandeep, you know, he's an unsung hero. And these guys here, if there's anything in the wicket Narine and Chakravarthy will exploit it, and the young seamers as have been impressive as well. And Starc, you know, he hasn't been great, but on his day he can turn a game as well. So they are very much the real deal," Hesson further added on Jio Cinema.

IPL 2024: KKR vs MI
KKR became the first team to seal their place in the IPL 2024 Playoffs as they defeated MI at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on May 11, Saturday. This is the first time KKR are making it to the playoffs since they made it to the final of the 2021 season. KKR made it 9 wins out of 12 matches as they extended their lead at the top of the IPL 2024 points table.
KKR has been one of the early pace-setters this season along with RR as they have continued been the top two for most of the season. The arrival of Gautam Gambhir as mentor has certainly had the desired effect on the two-time champions, who had finished in 7th spot last season.
Another win in their remaining two games will seal their spot in the top two and head to the qualifier 1 of the playoffs.
