Hello everyone.I just want to share my recent experience been cheated in Mudah.I lost RM 180 as a result for buying Nintendo DS there. The seller give me the wrong tracking number when I requested it from him. When I called him,the number no longer can be called.Everyone should be careful when looking to the ads there. It has been said that police reported cases on mudah.my that people have lost millions of money due to cheats and scammed.Everyone who have their own experience and opinion can share?

I sell things on Mudah only, but I never buy things from Mudah.

My favorite local trading site is lelong.com.my, you can see the members' ratings and joining histories, from there you can roughly know if the members can be trusted or not? (just like ebay), I would say most lelong's verified members are honest traders and they seems to be more mature people.

I always prefer and insist all sellers have to be verified by IC before they can sell their stuffs online.

Just like when you open a retail shop, you have to have a business license..

COD is not 100% safe.

What if the seller gives (COD) you the item that does not work?
For example, like electrical items or computer items.
Unless if you can test the item first before you pay to the seller.

This is why lelong.com.my can act as a middleman in between the seller
and buyer, this service calls Safe Trade.
But this service requires a RM 5 fee, if I am not mistaken.

But usually, once the seller has a long time of positive trading history and is
verified by IC, the transaction with this seller should be 99.99% safe.

I suggest to use Paypal to make payment when buying things from ebay.

If any con case happens, you can report to Paypal to freeze conman's
money, and you can get your money back from Paypal.

Report any seller or buyer to Paypal by clicking Resolution Center tab
on Paypal main page.

Paypal will act as a middleman to judge to see who is right and wrong
on Resolution Center section. Paypal wants to see proof only.

This is very important, when you sell stuffs and collect payments from Paypal,
always use registered mail to send shipment, and keep the registered mail receipt
for at least 6 months as proof of delivery.

safe trade only protect buyer not seller, there's 1 time my friend send a working LCD to a buyer but then later buyer play tricks, send back his own faulty LCD to my friend n complain to lelong safe trade refund to d buyer. my friend lose hundred of ringgit on the deal and get a bad remark. is this what we call safe? :hmm:

:furious: n d worst part of lelong.com.my is secretly sell members personal informations (address, phone, bank account) out to third parties

I thought the buyer was supposed to test the LCD in the Lelong's office to confirm the LCD was in good condition or not..? :stars:
But buyer was not supposed to take the LCD away from lelong office and tested it in buyer's home?

I am not sure about this. Do you have any proofs for this?

But I see some lelong members disclose their address (dealers or retail shops), phone numbers, and bank accounts on their
postings.., it is no surprise anybody can get the information from there.

I am not saying that lelong is perfect, but at least lelong can help members to minimize the con cases.

safe trade doesn't work that way. seller have 2 send item 1st, buyer get item, test then inform lelong.com.my 2 release payment 2 pay seller.

i am a lelong member long ago, i never disclose my name & contact ever but still i received some calls from some company asking me 2 buy their products so what i did is force them 2 tell me how they get my phone n informations by warning them i will make a police report n so 1 of them scare, telling me it's from lelong.com.my they got my informations from. i stop doing all my sales in lelong.com.my ever since.

I am very surprised to hear about lelong selling member's information ... :stars:

Your friend should explain to lelong about the dishonest buyer.
Did you friend explain to lelong?

I joined lelong since during that time they used to call buypc.com.my.
You can tell how long have I been joining lelong.

So far I do not have any big issue to buy and sell in lelong, probably
I buy stuffs only from verified members with more positive feedback and
long time trading history.

I am still posting my hand phone number on lelong.com.my now, but
I have never received any calls to ask me to buy something, except
some spamming sms.

But to me, in overall, I still prefer lelong's business model than other local trading sites.

I joined lelong not later than 1998.
When I joined lelong, they called buypc.com.my at that time. You can email to lelong to ask them about buypc.com.my.

At first, buypc.com.my started with mostly used PC spare parts tradings. Later on, they added more product categories.

Few years back, lelong.com.my and buysell.com.my could access on the internet at the same time.

I know this Safe Trade is available in lelong, but I have never used it.

I also got cheated twice in lelong few years ago.

The 1st case I managed to settle and got my money back from the conman (in Melaka) all by myself.
This conman did not send me the CDRW drive.

The 2nd case, I COD an AMD processor in Wangsa Maju, when I back home to test it, I found out it was a faulty processor,
I could not do anything about this case. Because the seller already stated on his posting that he was not sure the processor
working or not, I lost RM 50 because of my careless. This is the only money I lost in lelong so far.

What I can think of is probably your friend did not communicate with lelong effectively?

I know lelong will first look at the members profile when there are any arguments.

I only agree with you in this scenario: Lelong is not active as before in second hand items market (individual to individual market).

But they are more focus in dealer market now (dealer to individual market).

I guess this is one of the options Lelong can generate income by requesting dealers to open online shops on Lelong.

Mudah??? :D :D
I would say Mudah's business model can only survive in under-developed countries for short period of time.

I will always support lelong because I prefer members' identifications to be verified,
and the good things are that members' joining histories and ratings can be viewed
on profiles just like ebay.

If comparing ebay to lelong, I still like lelong better.
Ebay is too straight and they are very stubborn.

But I agree with you selling 2nd hand items on lelong is very slow recently.
10 years ago, I could sell my items on lelong very fast.
In contrary, for today, Mudah can sell faster than lelong.

I talked to many traders about lelong, most of them do not like to
join lelong because they think the process of joining lelong is complicated,
especially when they need to submit IC to lelong for verification and selling item purposes..

People from under-developed countries are always looking for easy and simple procedures,
I guess this is one of the reasons Mudah exists, but the draw back is that the security and protection
for traders will be scarified and ignored.

Everybody can sell items on Mudah with fake information.
If we get cheated on Mudah, how do we trace the cheater?

If we get cheated on lelong, at least we know who they are, and they cannot run away.

I bought items from lelong via courier, so far okay.

Actually, I have been trying to figure out why lelong is slow lately?

One more negative impact to against lelong that I can think of is lelong only allows one picture to be
uploaded for free. If you need more pictures to be uploaded on your posting, you need to pay fee to
lelong , or your need to know HTML. This will make the process a bit complicated for lelong sellers.

Bro .O., in order to look forward to Wawasan 2020, we want to learn from the best (like ebay), but not to learn from the dum..

I know buypc.com.my just because I joined lelong earlier than you.
I joined as their member on buypc.com.my website in 1997 or 1998.

Everybody has different point of view, background, and experience.
Perhaps you had a bad experience from lelong; but to me, I do not have any problems with
lelong, and I like them.

For example, a lot of people hate Paypal:
http://www.paypalsucks.com/

But to me, Paypal is the best so far.

rule no 1 - Always and always choose to COD

rule no 2 - Never deposit any money regardless of whatever they saying. You are going to COD with the seller anyway.

rule no 3 - Test the item kaw kaw upon COD. If its boxed, open the box. Tear the wrappings or papers and all that stuff. See and touch the actual item. If its electronic, power it up. See if it works. Any phone will power up, even new from factory, possibly the juice less than 40%. If the dealer is a shop retailer, ask for receipt. If he say u can just come to their shop and claim warranty. Dont trust that bullshit.

I don't know who owned Mudah.my but the website admins are idiots.
Just because someone has a pro-niaga account, mudah.my refuses to take action on deleting his account and his advertisements.

I've reported on a guy there a day ago, but all I got from mudah.my was "we will investigate"

But after 24 hours, the scammer's ad is still there.
I've also told mudah.my to contact me if they wanted some hard proof that the seller is a scammer, but mudah.my didn't do anything at all.

It's like they encourage scammers to be in their site.

Seeing so many good review on lelong by the LYN members.

I myself had a very unpleasant experience with my first purchase at lelong during 28 July 2012, Saturday night.

Was searching logitech universal remote control here in kk, sabah but couldn't find one. Decided to give it a try on lelong when I've got one search result from a seller.

Checked his rating, seems alright to me, Feedback Score:2787
Positive Feedback:100.00%. But I still go through his feedback page to ensure not much of ugly transaction. Most of his trade are below RM100.

I saw 4-5 "neautral" feedback stating that the seller should be more aware of his stock availability. The seller did replied some of the feedback saying "Sorry. We got update from time to time. Just we cannot be update the stock quantity real-time. Buyer may call or message to check stock availability before make payment. Thanks"

So I decided to ask him at the item Q & A page if it's ready stock for Monday shipment (28th July 2012 Sat, 10:21pm). He replied "Yes". Thus I placed my order and proceed with payment(28th July 2012 Sat, 10:41pm).

The next day (29 July 2012 Sunday 05:39:16 PM)he pm me

QUOTE
LOGITECH HARMONY ONE ADVANCE UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL (111837920 x 1 unit)

THIS ITEM OUT OF STOCK.
YESTERDAY SOLD OFF LAST UNIT.

I was very very unhappy, not even a single word of sorry, and why in the world he would tell me it is stock ready in the first place? Somemore at Saturday night 10:21pm I asked him, I doubted that is it even possible sold out at such coincidence chance.

My replied as following:

....... Sigh why did you told me you have stock in hand yesterday? After you confirmed only I made the purchase. And you could at least apologize in your message then I wouldn't be so disappointed and frustrated.

Only he wanted to apologize

QUOTE
Sorry. That day i check still got one unit.
But the item already sold on 29/07/2012.
Can you wait few day and i re-order the item??
Proof have sent to your email.

(that's his so called proof by sending to my email)

Order time is few day only.
Tomorrow order if fast thursday can arrive.
Maybe friday can shipping out.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Then I received another pm from him again

LOGITECH HARMONY ONE ADVANCE UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL (111837920 x 1 unit)

SUPPLIER TEMPORARY OUT OF STOCK.
PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR ACCOUNT SO I CAN REFUND TO YOU. IF REFUND ONLY RM731 WILL BE REFUNDED.
IF WAIT NEED TO WAIT AROUND ONE MONTH.
STOCK AVAILABLE FROM OTHER DEALER BUT PRICE MORE EXPENSIVE. COULD SELL TO YOU AT RM739.

What can I do? I'll just get my refund and ban this lelong for good. C'z I sent email to the lelong admin and they don't seems to give a shit when replying me but just for the purpose of verifying if the seller did refund.

QUOTE
Hi

Thanks for the email, and we are very sorry for this experience you had.

As we check on the transaction, the seller included the remark of refund being done to you. Appreciate that you could reconfirm this.

Sigh.

As soon as I got my refund, I went to leave feedback for this seller, but I can only choose 2 option, "good" and "neutral"..........

No wonder he got 100% positive rating la if that's how the "rating system" work.

Am sure those other "neutral" rating would have been a bad rating instead.

And there's this 3% netpay charges which cannot be refund, I wonder how many of the "neutral rating" customer didn't get their goods due to out of stock. I feel cheated in a way somehow although I did get my refund for the item.

This is somewhat a con/selling fake items case on mudah.my. I heard this case from a friend of mine. A friend of his was somehow conned into buying 2 Galaxy Note China version for RM1200 each.

His friend decided to post it up on mudah.my to get back the money he lost. The thing is, he posted it as original items and selling it as used items, thus the "cheap" price : RM1250. Lets just call this friend of his as H.

2 days after H posted the ad, he got a few calls and went out to meet the buyer a.k.a COD.

Customer A is a 'kakak'. Apparently all she did was just 'belek-belek' the phone and just gave him the money.

Customer B is a 'pak cik'. He came along with his son. He also 'belek-belek' the phone but before deciding, he asked his son to have a look. The son look through the app menu and display and took out his own S3 phone to compare. He then proclaimed that the phone is not an original. H just said that he didn't knew and was selling on behalf of a friend. Customer B end up not buying, which is good for him.

Customer C is a youngster around 23-24 of age. He too, was like Customer A. Just 'belek-belek' the phone and gave the money to H with much questions.

Btw, all those transaction happened in one night. As H was on his way to meet customer C, customer A texted H. She informed him that her friend checked the phone and realizing it is fake, she would like her money back. H replied, he didn't know it was fake as he was selling it for a friend. Customer A then replied, 'Tolonglah bagi balik duit akak. Duit tu dah lama akak kumpul. Akak tak halalkan makan minum duit tu'. But H ignored it and after the phones were sold, he broke the contact number's SIM card used for the transaction.

From what i heard, H felt guilty over what he did but he did't want to be in the losing side. As in, it's okay if others are the victims as long as he's not a victim. I hope he pay the penalty for it in the afterlife though. Cheating others just won't do.

In connection with the above case, I believe one must remain alert when buying things online. If you want to purchase a phone or other pricey things, it's better to bring along a friend with you when dealing with the seller (for COD). Or learn to differentiate between the fake and original. Ignorance will cost you dearly.

Hello thanks for your reply i am currently out from Malaysia i will be coming back to Malaysia soon after my company finalize where will be my secondment contract will be base, i will not able to view the car personally and would appreciate it if you can once more relate to me some of the car's history and petrol consumption level etc.
if you can consider lowering the price a bit as i will need to pay for the shipping charges of the car down to Kuching.please kindly get back to me on the final price so i can arrange for the payment of your car. Thanks and hoping to hear from you.

Hi Thank i am okay with your price RM32,000 . I also understand that I would be the one responsible to pay for the shipping charges and other service charges such as the transfer of ownership, insurance etc. Also that shipping of the car alone  may take between 1- weeks and I really don't have much time to waste as this time round, I may need to drive from Miri and Bintulu so if possible, I hope everything can be settled before I fly to Malaysia so that the car is ready to use the minute I arrive.

On my side, I will start looking for a shipping company to arrange the shipping and transfer of ownership of the car on my behalf and make arrangements for your car payment to you. For payment, please kindly go to http://www.paypal.com/ and register an account with them and get back to me with the following details below:

Your Full Name:
Your PayPal Email Address:
Your Contact Number:
Your Full Address ( Location for Car Pick Up):
Your Car Registration Number:
Your Car Model or Series and the Year Manufactured:
Your Car Chassis No:

Hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,

Muntaser.

In mudah you see picture, description, 100% genuine. also called & enquire, but once get .. it's fake.
I ask refund RM300, seller ok but after deduct RM100 for bla bla ...
Ok, I sent item back & I get no refund. Now no money, no item...

I file case at kpdnkk/mudah, slow taking action & say file case to individual is very hard & time consuming...
Very risky buying with no inspection. Now I no buy, no matter how great product., if cant COD.

Designer goods, lv, chanel, hermes, prada, montblanc, gucci etc. found at mudah.com ... claims as bundle or used items but is grad AAA even butik cant detect.. I bought a few now stop after discovery all is fake. Went to second hand shop, they also dunno weather their goods genuine or not ... ask me return if found out not, they also not sure their own goods genuine or not... still want take chances selling... I was surprize hearing that walk out and ended buy at butik.

Aww... I really wish i have read this thread. I thought mudah.my is ok. Just got scammed RM300 for buying hp. HP not sent, and seller MIA. What use if got maybank account of scammer. From my last experience, Police ignore and bank representative will say they cannot disclose any information unless police personally look into the case. Never expect I will get scammed again. Sigh. RM300 my son 1 month childare money gone. *sob**sob* Everyone do be more careful when buying online ba. >_<~~~~~~~~~

In case she use other account to scam people, here is the scammer tactics. This scammer will ask people add her facebook after communicating through email, after transaction done she will bock that person. HP number if other ppl sms her she will reply, if victim she won't. How I wish someone will lure her/him out and seriously hope that this scammer will get caught by police then less one scammer. Sigh.

Just say only accept paypal as payment. Reluctant to comply, you are not obliged to send anything.

Is this a scam? Seems suspicious.

If yes, how are they going to do it?
