10 Most Terrifying Social Media Horror Movies

9. Like Me

Sissy Movie
Kino Lorber

Easily the most trippy movie on this list, Like Me is the sort of film that won't be for everyone. If you like your social media-driven horror with bright colours, bonkers imagery, and a wider sense of 'what the flub is actually going on?', this Addison Timlin-starrer will be right up your street.

Here, Timlin plays Kiya, a lonely young adult desperate for online fame. As such, Like Me opens with a masked Kiya recording herself holding up a gas station convenience store. Pulling a gun on the unfortunate guy working there, the bloke wets himself before realising this gun is actually fake. Making a swift exit, Kiya uploads this footage and awakens to over two million views for the clip. Not just that, but she basks in the multitude of positive comments, which give her a sense of happiness and validation.

The internet being the internet, it's not long before Kiya stumbles upon one particularly negative response - being told to do the world a favour and slit her wrists - which only motivates her to seek out renewed validation with other twisted videos. Before you know it, Kiya's seduced eccentric, seedy hotel owner Marshall (Larry Fessenden) and embarked on a bizarre, day-glow mission to keep the online likes coming.

Oh, and there's a lot of intense eating scenes here; ooey, gooey, noisy, close-up eating scenes.
