Rep. Suzanne Schmidt, 4th District

Welcome to my website! Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your state representative. It is an honor and a privilege to represent the 4th Legislative District.

We have many challenges before us. Citizens are facing unprecedented inflation, high crime rates, and continual government overreach. I am focused on lowering taxes to make life more affordable, protecting our communities and families, while holding state government and the governor accountable.

Olympia is out of touch and doesn’t understand what we need here in Eastern Washington. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and do not need Puget Sound politics. It is time to reduce the bureaucratic regulations and taxes on our small employers. Hardworking families are struggling while the state has seen record revenues and continues to increase taxes while implementing more unnecessary programs. My business background can help our small employers and state economy thrive.

With common-sense solutions and working together, we can maintain and improve the quality of life in Washington state.

My Priorities

Protecting our communities by prioritizing public safety

Washington state continues to rank last in the nation in terms of the number of police officers per thousand people while crime rates are on the rise. We need to support our law enforcement officers who put their life on the line every day and provide them the necessary tools they need to do their jobs effectively. This can be done while ensuring we have accountability in our justice system. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their homes and neighborhoods.

Fixing the public safety crisis

Reducing your cost of living

The cost of everything is rising, from childcare to a tank of gas, to housing and groceries, while our state has had unprecedented taxpayer revenues coming in. We should be cutting taxes to give some relief for hard-working families. Prioritizing affordability and providing some local control of our tax dollars will ensure the best return for our working families instead of increasing spending and growing our state government.

Fixing the affordability crisis

Standing up for Washington's employers

Our state's economy relies on our small businesses. We must protect them from overreaching, runaway government. As the daughter of a small business owner, I will fight for free enterprise and workforce development opportunities, like apprenticeship programs, vocational schools and community colleges.

State government needs to be accountable

We can do better as a state to empower small businesses and workers to help everyone succeed. I have worked for decades to assist businesses and workers navigate complicated government systems. After years of representing businesses in areas such as unemployment insurance, workers' compensation and safety compliance, I have noticed our state government and agencies can do better and must be accountable.

Why we must hold our state government accountable
