MIAMI (Dec. 7, 2022) – Senior forward Stephen Afrifa has been named a 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist, announced United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club on Wednesday.

Afrifa is now officially under consideration for the Herman Trophy after voting by NCAA D-I soccer coaches narrowed the field down to just 15 players. He is one of five semifinalist that was also named to the Hermann Trophy watch list.
 
Afrifa had his best season as a Panther in 2022. The forward led the team in goals scored with 10 and total points with 24, both career highs, and added four assists.
 
Afrifa and the Panthers won The American regular season championship, The American Championship tournament and went on a run to the third round of the NCAA Tournament this season.

His efforts earned him two American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week nods, The American First Team All-Conference honors and The American Championship Most Outstanding Offensive Player and a place on the All-Tournament Team.

Three players will be selected as finalist on Wednesday, December 15 with the winner being formally announced on January 7.

The MAC Hermann Trophy has been awarded to the top player in the country annually since 1967.
