SS-Obergruppenführer Carl von Pückler-Berghaus

Post by Andreas Leandoer » 16 Sep 2006, 09:45

Hi all

In planning of a book I ran into this charachter and the obvious use of Sd Kfz 250/1 Neu in 1944-45, but no explanation to why he was using material normally being used in Aufklärungs-Abteilungen. Could someone tell me more about this charachter?

Andreas,
He was no Obergruppenführer, just Gruppenführer u. Gen. Lt. d. W-SS. I'm sure there's a good amount on him on this forum and in the more common books.
Regards,
Max.

According to what source was he only Gruppen??

A plain search shows no entries about theman in question. That is why I ask the question.

Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Lothar Erdmann Graf von Pückler-Burghauß , Freiherr von Groditz
was SS-Gruppenführer und Generalleutnant der Waffen-SS, Generalmajor der Polizei

according to SS-Personalakte (Bundesarchiv Berlin) & SA-Personalakte (Bundesarchiv Berlin)

Thanks. A nobility.
Anything about his commands during the war and what he did in 1944-45 to give him command over APCs?

Hallo Andreas,

in summer 1942: "zur Waffen-SS abgeordnet"
1942 - 1943 and 1944 - 1945 Befehlshaber der Waffen-SS in Prag
1943 - 1944 Kommandeur der (15.) Lettischen SS-Freiwilligen-Division

So the use of the Schützenpanzerwagen "Sd Kfz 250/1 Neu" is not unusually.
