WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE Do not put this book down. I'm dead serious - your life could depend on it. I'm risking everything by telling you - but you need to know.

STRAP YOURSELF IN for the thrill ride you'll want to take again and again! From Death Valley, California, to the bowels of the New York City subway system, you're about to take off on a heart-stopping adventure that will blow you away...

YOUR FAITHFUL COMPANIONS: Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, the Gasman and Angel. Six kids who are pretty normal in most ways - except that they're 98% human, 2% bird. They grew up in a lab, living like rats in cages, but now they're free. Aside, of course, from the fact that they're prime prey for Erasers - wicked wolf-like creatures with a taste for flying humans.

THE MISSIONS:
Rescue Angel from malicious mutants. Infiltrate a secret facility to track down the flock's missing parents. Scavenge for sustenance. Get revenge on an evil traitor. And save the world. If there's time.

Review

'The first in a series from adult-thriller writer Patterson has all the characteristics of his work for grown-ups: pace, action, mystery and cool... sharp and punchy with plenty of jokes and shocks. And it proves that girls can be tough, too.' ― The Sunday Times

'This skilled and compulsive tale is so involved about kids being brave against the odds'
The Sunday Times, 3/7/05 ― The Sunday Times

'MAXIMUM RIDE is a fast-paced, action-packed fantasy adventure that children will love'
Age, Melbourne 4/6/05 ― Age, Melbourne

'Patterson knows where our deepest fears are buried... There's no stopping his imagination.' ―
New York Times Book Review

'Nonstop action carries this page-turner breathlessly from start to finish... Speed, suspense, excitement'
Kirkus ReviewsKirkus Reviews

'[MAXIMUM RIDE has] enough action to draw in the most hesitant reader'
The AustralianThe Australian

'[Patterson] delivers an action-packed cross between Gertrude Chandler Warner's Boxcar Children and Marvel Comics' X-Men'
BooklistBooklist

'A fast-moving, thrill-a-minutes, neo future adventure that pits good against evil in a most significant way... It's imaginative, it's exciting, it's touching - but it's also damn scary considering what some scientists are up to already.' ―
The Northern Echo

'The characters are so well written that you'll really root for them. It's edge of your seat, thrilling stuff.' 5 Stars. ―

A great series of books for teens to adults. Well worth the read. I really like James Patterson books and these did not disappoint

This is the third novel of James Patterson's that I have read and I can tell you now it won't be the last.

Although this novel is for younger readers any adult who loves the world of fantasy will enjoy this,(I know I did).

An excellent story about a group of people who are different to the rest of us. I read the novel within 24hrs as I couldn't put it down.

This is a most for all fans, and those who have never read any of James Patterson's novels before. It's an execllent starting point for teenagers who want a little more then "Harry Potter".

Keep up the great work James, looking forward to reading the next. :-)

Excellent book. Not my first time reading it. It definitely is for a teenage audience, too 'immature' for someone much older.

This book was amazing even though sometimes i got a little caught up and had to flick back a few pages. Sometimes you can feel so overwhelmed by sadness and emotion that you just cannot put it down. You just need to find out what happens at the end. I have a favourite character: Iggy. I feel like I can relate to him and how sad he must feel to have lost his eyesight to those white-coats. He must have felt furious to have lost it and his father. Another person I like is Maximum Ride and how independent she is. I like how fixed and focused she is and how protective she is of Angle. Not unlike her, i would do anything to protect my brothers and would even give away my life if it made them safe.

I got this book in audio form not realising that it was for young adults. However from the first page I was hooked ! The characters were strangely believable and I was really wanting it all to 'work out' for them . I bought a copy of the book for my Grandson . He thought it was brilliant too and we have both read the whole series . My great nephew is receiving a copy for Xmas, pretty confident he will love it !

I LOVED this book! I found it fast paced and with lots of (very unpredictable) plot twists. I did have a couple problems with this though, as there was a lot to take in at once and it took me 11 (short) chapters to find out the main character Max is actually a girl. I recommend this book to anyone (preferably over 8 or 9 as of some mildly strong language) with a big imagination. I can't wait for the sequel!

an exciting novel - a jolly good read - graphic - made my stomach churn at times!

I do love the plots of this book and the 2nd and 3rd maximum ride books too. But the author lacks a good writing skill, it is written like he is a novice writer, I have seen fan fictions written by 13 year olds that have a more elaborate, complex writing style to this. I feel as though it has been 'dumbed down' too much for teenage readers. The short chapters also annoyed me but that is a personal preference I like my chapters to be longer than two pages long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh my! What a ride!

There was nothing at all in this book to dislike. The story shows just how cruel and amazing humans can be. The whole concept of man tempering with genetics is believable and terrifying. The story of the flock and their struggles is heartbreaking and amazing. As I read about the Whitecoats manipulating genes in young children, I couldn't help but remember Jeff Godblum's remark in Jurassic Park, "...your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should." The scenario blows the.mind.

I really loved the flock. The characters were so believable they touched my heart. Reading the story had me feeling scared, happy, angry, sad, and thrilled. It had me wanting more, more, more. What made my day after finishing the book is that I bought the whole series. So, I get to have so much more of this great series. I am hoping that the rest of the books are just as good as this one is. Having read many of Patterson's books before, I expect they will measure up.

I will be recommending the books to my friends who enjoy most of the books I tell them about. As for anyone reading.my review, go for it! You won't be disappointed by a most remarkable ride.

A thriller adventure which will be adorable for children. But almost all the time nothing is happening in the book. Otherwise its a good one. Whole series is super! I like it; you'll like it. Also a fast service by Amazon. Amazing!

This book was by far the single best book I have ever read.
The hole point of the book was great.
I'm interested to see what happens next, five out of five easily.
