Mo, an American Egyptian gay man, is called back to Egypt for a family emergency. Accompanied by his boyfriend, the couple pretends to be just friends since Mo is in the closet with his family. Already riddled with anxiety at the thought of being home, the situation is made worse when someone uses witchcraft to threaten Mo and his boyfriend. Convinced that a family member knows his secret, self-proclaimed atheist Mo, is thrust into a spiral of terror and shame born out of the superstitions prevalent throughout his formerly held religion and culture. While struggling to deal with his intense inner turmoil, Mo also has to navigate his relationship with his boyfriend, who up until now was completely unaware that Mo still considered their relationship sinful. Forced to confront his deepest fears, Mo will have to fight long-rooted beliefs in order to finally free himself. With external threats and dangers constantly looming over the protagonist, THE JUDGMENT is a psychological horror film that focuses on the inner struggle between rationality and deep-seated fear.
