Afternoon Tea & Atrium Cocktails

Afternoon Tea, a decades-long tradition at The Brown Palace, is set amid the historic grandeur of the Atrium Lobby serenaded by a melodic piano. Guests enjoy a pot of properly brewed English tea accompanied by scones served with Devonshire cream and preserves, savory tea sandwiches, and a delightful array of classic tea pastries.

Atrium Cocktails are on Friday & Saturday evenings, from 4:30 to 7:30 pm and select nights throughout the week. Sip on classic cocktails, wine, or a refreshing pint with charcuterie and other inventive dishes. Live music by The John Kite Jazz Quartet will complete an unforgettable and lively experience.

The service was slow and impersonal. The finger sandwiches were great, but the scones were very dry unlike in the UK. Macrons and cakes were just so-so. Tea choices limited, but delicious. Very over priced even in the ambience and history of the Brown Palace.

My only issue was contacting someone prior. I was on hold and never got anyone. They keep transferring me and then never called me back when they said give minutes.

Was not impressed in the slightest. $65 for tea, a few slivers of sandwich and some pastries that I could have bought at Panera and Kneaders, except not as good as those places. The sandwiches were okay but the pastries "confections" were not what you would expect for that price. The scones were good but nothing was out of this world. The service was okay. Now, I realize that the Brown Palace is old, but the tables and chairs were just a old and worn. The table was chipped and in need of paint. Maybe that adds to the "oldness" of the place but it just seemed off to me. I forgot to mention too that the Devonshire Cream, the milk and the lemon curd were set at all the tables and just waiting for the next reservation...eww. I don't want my food to be sitting out in the open soaking up the dust and germs of nearby patrons. The whole experience was a waste of money in our opinion. It was on our bucket list and we tried it, but it was definitely not for us. Be forewarned.
