Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente was an Alliance Party candidate for president of the United States in 2020. He won the party's presidential nomination on April 25, 2020. Darcy Richardson was selected to be his running mate. He lost in the general election on November 3, 2020.

De La Fuente was a 2018 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. Senate from California, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Minnesota, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and Wyoming. He was defeated in those states' primary elections. The United States Constitution does not establish specific residency requirements for United States senators, stipulating only that a senator must be an "inhabitant of the state for which he shall be chosen." Residency requirements vary by state.

De La Fuente was a 2016 Reform Party candidate for president of the United States. He previously sought the Democratic nomination for president in 2016. De La Fuente was also a 2016 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. Senate from Florida.

De La Fuente was born in San Diego, California, in 1954. He studied physics and mathematics at Instituto Patria and business administration and accounting at Anáhuac University and the University of San Diego. After his studies, De La Fuente entered the car dealers industry, beginning as a salesman and eventually acquiring 28 car franchises in California.

He then transitioned to the financial industry and real estate development, opening 11 currency exchanges, three banks, and assisted living facilities in Los Angeles and Lemon Grove. De La Fuente also owns properties throughout California, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia. He served as an at-large delegate for California at the Democratic National Convention in 1992. De La Fuente has five children.

Presidency

De La Fuente entered the presidential race on October 1, 2015. On December 31, 2015, he qualified for the Ohio Democratic primary ballot, joining Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. He also qualified for North Carolina's primary after collecting more than 10,000 verified signatures. As of January 12, 2016, De La Fuente said he has qualified to appear on "more than 20" ballots.

In January 2016, De La Fuente's campaign accused Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz of blocking De La Fuente from participating in debates through her influence on "the mainstream media." It also said that Florida officials had "resolved, behind doors, to exclude" him from Florida's primary.

On August 9, 2016, the Reform Party selected De La Fuente as its nominee for president.

The race for Florida's U.S. Senate seat was one of nine competitive battleground races in 2016 that that helped Republicans maintain control of the Senate. Incumbent Sen. Marco Rubio (R) defeated U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy (D), Iraq war veteran Paul Stanton (L), and nine independent and write-in candidates in the general election, which took place on November 8, 2016. According to Politico, Rubio was “the first Republican senator from the Sunshine State ever to win reelection in a presidential election year.”

Rubio called Murphy "hyper-partisan," "a rubber stamp for, God forbid, a Clinton presidency," and accused him of fabricating his qualifications. Murphy criticized Rubio, saying, "Sen. Rubio has the worst vote attendance record of any Florida senator in nearly 50 years." Murphy's spokeswoman Galia Slayen said, "Marco Rubio is willing to abandon his responsibility to Floridians and hand over our country's national security to Donald Trump, as long as it advances his own political career."

In his victory speech, Rubio said, “[I] hope that I and my colleagues as we return to work in Washington D.C. can set a better example how political discourse should exist in this country. And I know people feel betrayed and you have a right to. Every major institution in our society has failed us — the media, the government, big business, Wall Street, academia — they have all failed us. So people are so frustrated and angry. But we must channel that anger and frustration into something positive. Let it move us forward as energy to confront and solve our challenges and our problems.”

“	Jobs: According the United States Census Bureau, Florida’s poverty rate is 16.5% as compared to the national average of 14.8%. The average annual income per capita here is $26,499 as compared to $28,555 nationally and our $47,212 median income trails the national average of $53,482. We not only need to create more jobs, we need to create higher paying jobs as well. Immigration: Florida has a rich history of embracing immigrants. Our state’s demographics reflect a strong Latino influence that has grown over the years. I myself am a proud first generation American who loves this country for the opportunities it has provided for me. Immigration is the issue that drew me into the presidential race, and it remains a major interest of mine as it relates to Florida. Environment: We are stewards of our planet, and we bear the responsibility to preserve the environment to the degree that we reasonably can. We cannot ignore science, but we must recognize that it is a two-edged sword. While we cannot deny mankind’s contribution to climate change, we also have to acknowledge that our attempts to mitigate the damage we do is driven by technological realities that we cannot legislate away. Education: Florida is blessed with a wonderful system of universities and colleges, but we have an intellectual trade imbalance. What I mean by that is we are a net exporter of talent. Our college graduates often move out-of-state in search of better and higher-paying jobs. We need to fix that by leveraging our state’s natural advantages (i.e., its magnificent climate, breathtaking beaches, and obvious tax advantages) to attract business that will bring opportunities and higher-paying jobs to Florida. Veterans: The Department of Veterans Affairs is broken. Some of our veterans are dying as they wait for care; others receive inferior treatment when they receive it. Yet, VA officials think it is appropriate to compare the “inconvenience” to “waiting in line at Disney World.” It is a travesty that needs to be addressed immediately.	”
