Brody and Kaitlynn had their hesitations about joining the reboot but ultimately decided to do it. Unfortunately, the reality show led to their demise, and the pressures in their relationship completely unraveled. “Brody and Kaitlynn have had issues for years. It is no secret amongst those who knew them,” a source told People. “And the show was not good for them. It got so bad that Kaitlynn had actually moved out before they started filming but then moved back in. Doing The Hills magnified a lot of things in their marriage. And it became clear that it wasn’t going to work. They both knew it.”

It was apparent that the pair disagreed about their future plans. Kaitlynn wanted a real marriage along with babies and a white picket fence. Jenner revealed that he wished Carter told him about the pregnancy sooner. "Of course, it's hurtful to see all of these other people that seem to know that she's pregnant and not me," Jenner told the cameras in a confessional during the episode. "A baby was such a big part of our relationship and talk in our relationship. I don't need to be the first one to know but I think I should be in the top 10." Kaitlynn shared, "It's just a big thing to share with somebody. It feels like one final nail in the coffin."
