Broncos' updated QB depth chart with Zach Wilson

The Denver Broncos agreed to trade a sixth-round draft pick to the New York Jets on Monday in exchange for quarterback Zach Wilson and a seventh-round pick.

It’s a low-cost, low-risk move for Denver just ahead of the NFL draft, which is set to begin on Thursday. As the roster stands now, Wilson would be set to compete with Jarrett Stidham for the starting quarterback job this summer.

Things could change quickly, though, if the Broncos draft a quarterback in the first round, either by trading up or landing a QB at pick No. 12.

At the moment, Stidham and Wilson are co-QB1s with Ben DiNucci serving the third-string reserve role, a position he held on the practice squad in 2023.

How much the QB depth chart changes between now and summer depends on the caliber of QB Denver may or may not land in the draft. If the Broncos move up for a high-profile prospect, such a rookie might be the favorite to start. A mid- or late-round prospect seems less likely to win the job in Year 1 after the team acquired Wilson.

Denver also seems less likely to sign a veteran such as Ryan Tannehill after acquiring Wilson, but nothing can be ruled out at this point.

One year after Denver had a QB depth chart of (Russell) Wilson-Stidham-DiNucci, the Broncos are now going into the 2024 NFL draft with a projected depth chart of Stidham-Wilson-DiNucci.
