About

Parliament has been dissolved until after the general election and I am no longer an MP.

Prior to becoming your MP for Liverpool Wavertree, I am proud to say that I have worked in local government and public services for the best part of 30 years. All of this has been within the Liverpool City Region. After over a century as a constituency, I am the first and only Liverpool Wavertree MP to represent this constituency while also being born here. The majority of my family also live in the constituency with some now in the surrounding city region area.

The focus of this part of my career has been on areas such as customer care, human resources and community development - which are the areas I have spent most of my time on and am most passionate about. It has been a privilege to have worked with a great number of community groups to find grant funding, to build advocacy, and to improve their neighbourhoods and surroundings.

In addition to my day job in local government, I spent five years representing my colleagues as a trade union official, a position I was honoured to hold, eventually becoming the most senior lay representative for Unison in the North-West as its Regional Convenor.

In my personal life, I am married with two children, one at University and one still in school. I have loved and continue to love spending most of my free time watching both my boys play football and enjoy sport.
