Dog the Bounty Hunter: ‘I Know God is Absolutely Real’

Dog the Bounty Hunter (a.k.a. Duane Chapman) wants to help others discover the gospel through his new book, “Nine Lives And Counting: A Bounty Hunter’s Journey to Faith, Hope, and Redemption.”

“I know God is absolutely real,” Chapman told CBN News. “I know that God told me years ago…‘I’m going to show you miracles beyond [anything] that you could imagine, think, or want.”

He grew up in a Christian home, explaining, “I knew more than most people did, right from wrong, miracles of God — I knew all that.”

However, he strayed from his faith in later years and ended up going to prison after he and a group of accomplices broke into a man’s home. During the break-in, one of the accomplices shot and killed the homeowner. Chapman was sentenced to five years and served 18 months. After he was released, he launched a career as a bounty hunter.

The reality TV star shared that his “faith has grown” in the years since his wife Beth passed away. He has since remarried and now walks “hand-in-hand” in faith with his wife Francie.

Now, Chapman wants to share his faith journey with others.

A description of “Nine Lives And Counting” reads, “Duane’s life has been anything but ordinary. But, through every success and failure, the one constant has been his faith in God. For the first time, Daune is sharing how his faith has brought him through life’s greatest difficulties, giving him renewed purpose and meaning.”

“This book is about my faith in God and my walk with God,” Chapman told ChurchLeaders. “The one thing I have said is after someone reads this book, and they don’t believe in God, good luck to you. [My life] is incredible miracle after miracle…It’s not luck. It is miracles from G-O-D.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Chapman’s commitment to proclaiming his faith in Hollywood:

Chapman revealed that his time spent in Hollywood on the popular A&E show DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER showed him that many were receptive of his Christian faith.

“A lot of people think Hollywood is full of a bunch of demons, but so many of the celebrities I’ve met over the last 20 years or so are good people; they’re not like Satan worshipers,” he said. “Maybe a few are off into the Twilight Zone, but most of them believe in the concept of God, God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost; it’s not really as demonic or dangerous as you would think. You can’t go throwing your pearls out before swine, but a lot of people respect the fact that I believe in God. They know I’m a Christian.”

However, Chapman still recognized the need to stand for Jesus in a lost society.

“I have been through many generations, but this is the first time that when you look through Scripture and you can see that we’ve begun the End Times,” he said. “The Bible says, at the End Times, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and daughters shall prophesy’ (Acts 2:17). And there are so many young kids where it’s just incredible, they’re experiencing the pouring out of God’s Spirit.”

“When sin starts to abound, and never have we seen sin abound like this, ever, that’s another sign,” he added. “But on the flip side of the coin, you’re getting a lot of people coming to God right now.

“I want people to know I stand for God,” he said. “And I believe God is pouring out His Spirit on all flesh like never before, and I’m excited to be a part of that.”
