Windows Movie Maker/Editor for Win 11

Since Windows 11 is now using Video Editor for their software rather than the old Movie Maker Software that was available back in the day to make slide shows, the new app has taken away the transitions function that used to be on Movie Maker slideshow software but is no longer available on the current Video Editor software preinstalled with Win 11. Why did this function get taken away? It was so useful. Now I have to find another video editor that has transitions built into it's software. Or am I missing something in this Editor software? Please help or bring it back. It used to be such a great little app. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance
Bob H

32-bit Windows software such as Windows Live Movie Maker will run on Windows 10.

It's part of Windows Live Essentials, which can be downloaded safely from the Internet Archive:

It's one of several programs included in this installer. When you run the installer it gives you an option to choose which of the programs to install.

Is there a cost associated with download? I am shopping for new laptop and this will affect choice. Thanks
