List of Good Times seasons/episodes

The Traveling Christmas is the twelfth episode of Season 6 of Good Times and also the 121st series episode overall. Written by Wayne Kline and Norman Paul as a teleplay from a story written by Sid Dorfman, the episode, which was directed by Gerren Keith, premiered on CBS-TV; it originally aired on December 20, 1978.

Synopsis[]

It's Christmas, but Keith's boss won't give him the night off. The Evans decide to have a party at the taxi-cab company with singing, impersonations and Santa making a visit.

Storyline[]

As the Evans prepare for their Christmas Party, Keith comes home from work and reports that he has to work the night of the party. Florida decides everyone will have the party at his work.

Plot summary[]

Thelma's husband, Keith (Ben Powers), currently employed as a cab driver, is unable to get Christmas Eve off. Thus, the Evans family and several friends converge upon the offices of the cab company to put on a Yuletide show for Keith's benefit. Like the fifth-season episode "That's Entertainment, Evans Style," this opus is essentially an excuse for the Good Times cast to show off their musical talents. Highlight: Florida (Esther Rolle), Willona (Ja'net DuBois), Thelma (BernNadette Stanis), and Penny (Janet Jackson) in a spirited rendition of "Steam Heat."

Guest starring[]

  • Harry Caesar as Mr. Clements
