Capitalization Tip
Words like Historia and Matemáticas are capitalized in Spanish when they refer to the name of an academic subject. When they're used in general, they are not capitalized. Also, note that the names of languages are only capitalized in Spanish when we are talking about the academic subject.
Tricky Words: Librería
Librería may look like it means library, but it doesn’t. It’s a false cognate! False cognates, often called falsos amigosin Spanish or false friends in English, are words in different languages that look similar, but do not actually mean the same thing.
Gender Tip
Despite using the masculine article, aula and arte are feminine nouns. So, why do they use el? Singular feminine nouns that start with stressed a or ha sounds use the masculine singular article, el. This occurs for the same reason we use an instead of a in English—two as together are very difficult to pronounce!
Note that both aula and arte use las when they are plural.

In this skill you review the present tense conjugation of tener(to have), a stem-changing verb with an irregular yo form.
