Directed
by Anthony Page and adapted by Gladiator's screen play writer, John
Logan, The Master Builder revolves around Norwegian architect Halvard
Solness (Stewart) in the twilight of his career.
Living in fear of being outshone by younger, more creative, architects
his life is turned upside down when a beautiful young woman, Hilde
Wangel, appears on the scene and encourages him to take risks again.
This production is a chance to see one of the world's great dramas
performed by an exceptional all star cast before it transfers to the
West End.
Playing Halvard Solness Patrick Stewart is known all over
the world as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the universally popular cult
television and film series Star Trek. With numerous film and TV roles
under his belt Stewart's most recent movie credit is as Professor
Xavier in the blockbuster X-Men films.
Sue Johnston appearing as Aline Solness first came to the attention
of the British public, in 1982, as Sheila Grant in Brookside. Today
her face is probably most familiar as the chain-smoking Barbara Royle
in The Royle Family.
Edward de Souza playing the role of Knut Brovik has many television
credits including The Count of Monte Cristo, Madame Bovary and The
Sweeney. His film credits include Phantom of the Opera, The Thirty
Nine Steps, The Spy Who Loved Me and Jane Eyre.
