2023 Ford Ranger: Here’s What’s New And Different

The 2023 Ford Ranger represents the fifth and final model year of the midsize pickup’s fourth generation. As such, it receives very minor changes, limited to an altered exterior color lineup and the addition of a new package, as it quietly makes way for a new generation in North America.

2023 Ford Ranger Model Line

The 2023 Ford Ranger maintains its trim lineup containing three distinct levels. The midsize pickup’s entry level trim continues to be XL, with the midrange XLT slotting in above it. Finally, the range-topping Lariat trim represents the best-equipped model. All three trims can be configured with either the six-foot SuperCab box or five-foot SuperCrew box.

2023 Ford Ranger Exterior

Outside, the 2023 Ford Ranger drops four colors, while gaining two new ones.

Deleted exterior colors:

  • Avalanche Gray
  • Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat
  • Desert Sand
  • Forged Green Metallic

New exterior colors:

2022 Ford Ranger in Avalanche Gray

2021 Ford Ranger in Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat

2022 Ford Ranger in Desert Sand

2022 Ford Ranger in Forged Green Metallic

2023 Ford Ranger in Azure Gray Metallic

2023 Ford Ranger Interior

The 2023 Ford Ranger sees no changes to its interior. No new features were introduced, and nothing was deleted. All of its features, styling and technologies remain the same.

2023 Ford Ranger Mechanical

The 2023 Ford Ranger continues to be offered exclusively with the turbocharged 2.3L EcoBoost I4 engine. This powerhouse produces 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, mated to the automaker’s 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel-drive is standard, while four-wheel-drive is optional.

2023 Ford Ranger Packages

The 2023 Ford Ranger gains the new Splash Jungle Edition Package, which is available exclusively on Lariat trim. This package includes the following content (relevant production codes listed in parentheses):

      • Manual reclining seats
      • Heated front seats

With the addition of the Splash Jungle Edition Package, three other packages have been deleted from the lineup. This includes the Splash Snow Edition Package, Splash Forest Edition Package and Splash Sand Edition Packages, which have now been discontinued and are not available on the 2023 Ford Ranger.

The 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot (87W) has also been removed from the midsize pickup, along with quite a few vehicles in The Blue Oval’s lineup. The 2023 Ford Ranger XL lineup also gained a depopulated key, but the option is currently only mandatory when supply chain issues prevent the company from offering two fully-featured fob units.

2023 Ford Ranger Availability

The 2023 Ford Ranger is produced at the Michigan Assembly plant, which will continue to manufacture the fifth-generation Ranger for North America. The pickup is underpinned by the T6 Platform, which it will continue to utilize for a while longer, despite the impending generational shift.

2024 Ford Ranger

Looking forward, the 2024 Ford Ranger will bring major changes and updates to the midsize pickup line. Ford Authority recently spotted a North American-spec example without camo on public roads, giving us a good look at the forthcoming Ranger. The 2024 Ford Ranger for the North American market is expected to enter production at the Ford Michigan Assembly Plant in May of 2023.

I ordered a 2023 xlt crew cab 4×4 and build date is 1st week February I ordered it September 2022. There is 2023 on the lots here now. Iam fine with the last of the series hopefully all the recalls and stuff worked out of it. My last truck was a 97 Nissan 4×4 hardbody that I bought new and sold for this truck (never imaged would get what i did for it). the ranger looks good to me coming out of a 25-year-old truck so the “old 2023 Ranger” as i hear it called Is nice for me. Test drove a 2023 off the lot couple days ago and I liked it.

The Ranger doesn’t get a lot of rave reviews but I’ve always liked them. Always good getting the last one before redesign.

redesign usually has something to work out. It amazes me for it to be compared to maverick and Santa Cruze and people say it drives like a truck. that’s what I expect it is a truck.

It took me 4 1/2 months to get my ordered one. It is more powerful, rides better, and sits better and has a little bit better radio than the 2021 Tacoma that I sold to get it!

Check out http://www.ford.com.au and see the next gen 2024 Ranger already on sale “down under” with the Raptor almost ready to drop. A huge improvement over the current Ranger but unfortunately for Ford some teething issues which bodes well with the old saying don’t buy the new model till the bugs are sorted so if you need a newbie the last of the old model should be bullet proof…

Ford needs to put a little effort into a more aggressive grill and bodywork.
That bar running through the middle of the grill makes the front look cheep and week.
I had 3 Rangers in a row. But after deciding not to sell them here because it might steal sales from the F series I lost all faith in Ford and their stupidity.
    Decided to buy a Colorado.
Ford give the Ranger a more aggressive look. Put some effort into it..

To avoid any confusion, the P703 2023 T6.2 Ranger is the fifth generation (5G). North America never saw the P375 T6.0 4G Ranger, built for the rest of the world between 2011-2018 (2012-2018 MY). The 2024 Ranger (6G) rides on a modified T6 frame and has been available in the ROW as a 2023 model, the NA version will be available later this year as a 2024 model.
