My wife and I, in our fifties, are first-time visitors to Japan planning a 12-day trip in early December. Our initial itinerary includes landing in Tokyo on Day 1, spending days 2 to 6 in Tokyo, traveling to Kyoto on Day 7, exploring Kyoto from Day 8 to 10, heading back to Tokyo on Day 11, and flying back home from Tokyo on Day 12. We are coming from India via Singapore. Our questions are:

1. Is this itinerary suitable? I plan to add more details as I research further. Could you recommend some day trips? Can we visit Mt. Fuji during this time of the year?

2. Since I am coming via Singapore, would it make more sense to land in and depart from Tokyo? Returning to Tokyo wastes a day. Are there any other alternatives?
