Rockland County Reviews
Rating 4 out of 5 30 reviews
My family and I moved to Rockland County, we have found it to be a great place to live. Everything is convenient and the trains make it an easy commute to Hoboken. Living close to north jersey also provides us the ability to take advantage of the amenities of those locations. If you have kids, there is plenty to do. Galaxy gymnastics is a great gymnastics center, many of the high schools have great athletic programs and there is plenty of open space. The communities are very safe and we no longer deal with the crime, over population and crisis of larger areas. We are very happy in Rockland which also is fiscally responsible as the county is currently running a surplus and has actually reduced taxes.
There are a lot of Jewish residents throughout the county which makes me feel included. However, political change is slow and tends to lean on the conservative side which oppresses the minorities that live in the county.
Well... Rockland County - when people say it is quiet, that is just semantics to basically say nothing happens here. Nothing to do except pass thirty seven strip malls in Nanuet, get mugged at the palisades mall, go to rockland bakery, and play with yourself. Buildings are old and delapitated because nobody want to move here (or the NY metro area in general). Too cold in winter, too hot in summer, just the perfect amount of bullcrap to not want to live here. Everyone who lives here has had their house here since sliced bread was invented (not even exaderading look this up), and has created a communiy centered around living too far from NYC and feeling like VERMONT minus the whimsy. There is nothing Rockland has that Bergen County can't do better. Bergen has more money, stuff to do, "celebrities", towns that have good food, etc. Rockland... just old and tired. Literally nothing special, it's like eating plain oatmeal.
