Will Mellor

Welcome British acting icon Will Mellor to our 2022 line up of Strictly stars!

There's not much Will hasn't starred in, from hit police drama Line of Duty to crime dramas Broadchurch and No Offence, but now he's taking on a whole new role as he steps into our Ballroom.

Born and raised in Stockport, Will was the self-confessed class clown at school and began performing around age 11, landing his first role on ITV show Children's Ward. He then found himself cast in soap Brookside at the age of 16, moving onto brand new soap Hollyoaks in 1995, starring in the very first episode and 100 more.

A detour via music saw him release two singles in 1998, before spending two years in medical drama Casualty, eventually landing the role of Gaz in new comedy Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps in 2001. Following the loves and lives of five 20-something friends, the show soon gained a cult following and ran for an incredible nine series, until 2011. In fact, Will still records and tours a podcast with co-star Ralf Little, called Two Pints with Will and Ralf.

Will's career since then has continued to climb, seeing him star in EastEnders, Coronation Street, Sorted, BAFTA-winning show The Street, White Van Man, In With The Flynns, No Offence, and primetime dramas Broadchurch, Sanctuary and Line of Duty.

Now he's got his sights set on one last accolade - grabbing that Strictly Glitterball!
