Longfellow Deeds (Adam Sandler) is content to run his pizzeria in the cozy New Hampshire hamlet of Mandrake Falls. His only further desire is to someday see one of his corny rhymes printed in a greeting card. Deeds is awarded much more when he inherits the $40 billion empire of a media tycoon, a distant relative. He is lured to New York City by unscrupulous partners of the deceased where he is preyed upon by greedy stockholders. He also makes ample fodder for tabloid journalists, notably reporter Babe Bennett (Winona Ryder) who poses as a school nurse from Iowa to win Deed's heart and expose him as an idiot to her viewership. Against her will and her own sleazy principles, Babe falls for the charming naivety of Deeds, whose fortune is in jeopardy.Adam Sandler's man-child persona stands in for Gary Cooper in this remake of the 1936 MR. DEEDS GOES TO TOWN. Sandler and longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy have molded the Frank Capra romantic comedy into a perfect vehicle for its star and a love letter to New York City. Jared Harris as a tabloid TV host and John Turturro as an omnipresent Spanish butler shine in supporting roles.

A must buy for Sandler fans
Mr. Deeds I highly recommend this movie, it's funny and full of laughs. Not only that but all the cool kids own it! A great movie with a hilarious plot and a great cast. Mr. Deeds is one of my favorite Adam Sandler films. It features great on-screen chemistry between Sandler and Ryder and has a great supporting cast. This is one of those films that will have you laughing you buns off. Final Verdict: 4/5 Rent or Buy?: If you love comedies this is a must buyMr. Deeds I highly recommend this movie, it's funny and full of laughs. Not only that but all the cool kids own it! Excellent real guy with values from small town. Honest Mr. Deeds
The real deal. Honest Mr. Deeds. Good character and values. Learns how others can be deceitful and money hungry. Money cannot buy real happiness. Pure love can. Value movie. Adam Sandler acts well in all his movies.

All in all, not a bad family movie.
Sometimes I wonder if people who would give a film such as this 5 stars, have actually ever seen a 5 star film. This is in no way shape or form worthy of 5 stars. It's an average film at best. Oh it was a cute film and it did have it's better parts. Sandler played his role well for all that's worth. Comedy was kind of a yawner. Kids would probably find it more comical than an adult. Mr. Deeds: comedy with a meaning.
Great acting, funny story line. This film has a great bottom line.....money is not everything, but it can be used unselfishly. Combines small town with big city life. entertaining to see what some folks will do to get ahead, and what happens when there is no practice of restraint.
