any tea on why final cut is closing? :(
i am a local who has relocated to a larger city. i'm so sad to hear that final cut is closing. i used to work at the customer service call center for urban outfittters years ago-- i know the owners / managers are the same man. i am just soooo curious as to WHY they have to close. i have always loveedddd shopping there when i come home to visit.
spill the tea?!
TLDR: any tea on why final cut is closing?
That's the place that sold junk for top dollar?
I’ve always felt this way too. I know people that love it. In my opinion most of the stuff there is Goodwill quality for department store prices. Never found something there I was willing to buy for their price.
Should’ve checked out the books and such. I tended to key away from the clothes. But it’s more or less the thrill of striking gold.
In that case, my wife probably kept them in business these last couple of years.
Hahahaha it’s cool. You don’t understand. Don’t worry about it 😉

makes sense. so the profits werent good enough to keep it open.
was it making money to go back into URBNs pocket?
Here is the tea! They are closing shop because of several reasons, however, the main is that they are leaving Augusta. A long long time ago I used to work at their call center. Back in like 2013ish (my date might be wrong here) they closed the warehouse they had out in Edgefield. All call center employees moved to a new location next to Lowe’s on bobby johns. But from what a friend told me they had been cutting the call center department down ever since and will be closing that location down soon too. They are closing Final Cut and the call center and moving those operations to PA where they have another warehouse.
Also, the place is empty. Unless you wear a m/s and want a jacket or some miss match sofa chair legs you’re better off saving your time. Most of the clothes left have holes or are in poor condition. I hope all BHLD dresses get donated to a church rather than goodwill.
But that’s the tea! ☕️🫖
Thanks for the tea, but it makes sense, the PA location is wayyyyyyyyyyyy better, I cant use enough y's to express how much better and cheaper, they have the real deals. I was fortunate enough to win the tickets in a lottery and now 85% of the furniture in my house is from that location, I even have a ton more in storage that won't fit in my house (somewhat of a long story). I even have the huge anthropologie mirror from that location that sits on my floor and just about touches my ceiling took 3 guys to get it up the stairs. I am definitely going back again in the future. I need some rugs and a few accessories.
I’ll never get to experience that place in PA. But cheers to everyone that can take advantage of it and make their homes a place where they feel creative, comfortable, and eclectic. I’ll get my yellow couch one day.
Why can't you? I don't live anywhere near PA, I rented a moving van a drove there with it.
Wow, thank you for that info. I, too, used to live in Augusta and loved to shop there when visiting. I will have to come up with an excuse to go to the PA store, especially since they have furniture.
BTW, I live in Chicago, and the Nordstrom Last Chance cannot be beat. Unbelievable deals on Nordstrom, Anthro, couture. Just an FYI
Ah so sad!! Guess I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for the future location. Thank you for sharing!! It really was a gem in the beginning
I’m wondering about this tea party myself. I have enjoyed being able to run there for books, wall paper, and just anything for a quick outfit. That place saved me so much money on a dress I needed for a wedding. Ugh. Sucks that it will go away. Probably to some place closer to a warehouse I guess.
I KNOWWW. i would plan my trips home with my main objective being placing two days aside to dig through clothes and stock on free people and beach wear and office clothes..
I vaguely remember someone saying that final cut was a type of write off or tax loop for urban outfitters? might be rumor but maybe something was off with that.
i mean, they either got all the merch for free (because off season samples and worn clothes from shoots cant be resold in stores and sometimes cant be donated bc of the risk of non-flame resistant fabrics being used for first samples, lawsuits, etc) OR they paid little for bulks of returns and merch that other wise wouldve been destroyed.
i know about the donation thing because i worked at a photo studio for osh kosh. i had to pack up all the off season samples into boxes *to be destroyed* because liabilities around donating them were too much of a risk.
i am just not trying to go up north to the other anthro warehouse store.
i feel like someone knows what went down. 🫠
Spilt the tea in a new comment. ☕️🫖
Same! But only back when they first opened. I furnished half my house with stuff from there and not to mention the amazing sample only pieces added to my wardrobe! It went downhill once they jacked their prices up.
If someone goes there and there’s anything left, please post/update. They were always so busy when I shopped there.
I’ll definitely be going tomorrow. I’ll post up for everyone.
I gotchu mama. I’ll letcha know!
Not much left. Urban outfitters jewelry for $1 each. Coats and sweaters mostly. It’s very empty!! Some sofas left!
We have purchased a plethora of furniture and decor from there. Maybe now we won’t need to replace furniture as frequently. My wife is super bummed.
Hahahahaha yes if I lived here, I’d probably have a problem
Wait when will it be closing? I was hoping to get my next couch from there.
July 12!!! Apparently there’s like nothing left? But I have to see for myself.
😩😩 thank you!
They used to auction off the same items to employees and employees could get fired if they were caught reselling them.
But the guy who more or less owned the call center was allowed to do just that and line his pockets with cash simply because he had the means to buy more stuff.
Good ole boy system.
