Killarney House parkrun #169 – 04th May 2024

One of those volunteers deserves special mention as W45 Tara Tangney was the only person to reach a Milestone today. It was Tara's 25th Volunteer day and she has run 52 of her 63 parkruns at KH.

This week 141 people ran, jogged and walked the course and we welcomed 24 first timers. Eleven of the latter were taking part in their first parkrun so well done to W15 Faye O'Carroll, W45 Louise Shalvey, W30 Bernice Cronin, W40 Caitriona O'Connor, M35 James Twomey, M30 Chris Lawlor, M55 Jeremiah Daly, M45 Gary Kelliher, M20 Dylan Donovan, M11 Liam McCarthy and W25 Seodhna O'Donoghue. We hope that you'll continue to parkrun.

Well done also to the 27 who recorded new Personal Bests W11 Sinead and W50 Michelle Heffernan, M10 William Bleakley, W55 Irene Schmahl, M40 Tadgh Cronin, W55 Helen Ahern, W35 Gabriella Pocsi-Rell, W40 Laura Clifford, W50 Stella Maloney, W11 Alesha Williams, W45 Kathleen O'Sullivan, W25 Shannen McCann, W25 Laura Lynch, W35 Katie Heffernan, M60 John Mannix, W20 Eve Coffey, W25 Leah O'Shea, M65 Timothy Horgan, M35 Matt Lewis, W25 Christine Cooper, M45 Fiachra Mac Aodha, W35 Ciara Kane, M35 Barry Tyther, M45 Derek Hegarty, M18 Cathal Devlin, M40 Niall Byrne and M25 Conor Kissane.

It was Conor's 6th parkrun and he led the field home for the 4th time in a very impressive 16:10 PB just 27 seconds away from our course record. Conor also set the highest Age Grade score of 79.79%.

Our first lady was just 11 seconds away from her PB and W35 Marie Claire Healey's 20:08 time saw her lead the ladies home for the 7th time in her 8 parkruns.

W15 Laura Bradley was our first Junior in 22:49 and M11 Liam McCarthy led the Junior men home in 27:50 on his first parkrun,

Top of the most parkruns table was parkrun legend M60 Tony Higgins of Tralee parkrunners on Tour who ran his 318th parkrun with 156 of those in Tralee. Tony has volunteered an incredible 738 times and run at 80 different parkruns.

Tony's wife Maeve set the highest female Age Grade score of 76.94%.

Representatives of 17 different clubs took part with Maidstone Harriers represented by first time visitor M35 Simon Apps the furthest travelled. Another first time visitor W55 Anna Valentine of Earlswood RC also had a long journey here.

The female record is held by Lisa HEGARTY who recorded a time of 17:24 on 28th May 2022 (event number 70).

The male record is held by Darragh O’LEARY who recorded a time of 15:43 on 11th February 2023 (event number 105).

The Age Grade course record is held by Niamh O'SULLIVAN who recorded 98.86% (19:05) on 30th October 2021 (event number 41).

Killarney House parkrun started on 20th July 2019. Since then 4,708 participants have completed 20,150 parkruns covering a total distance of 100,750 km, including 3,250 new Personal Bests. A total of 388 individuals have volunteered 2,900 times.
