Jagapathi Babu’s popularity stems from the fact that the actor has never confined himself to one bracket.

Jagapathi Babu started his career by playing the hero, but he found acceptance across South states with his antagonist roles. The Hindi audience knows him better as the villain Kodati Nageshwar in Salman Khan’s 2023 film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.

Born as Veeramachaneni Jagapathi Chowdary, the 62-year-old actor is popularly known as Jagapathi Babu. He is, perhaps, one of the few actors who has played the hero and the villain, and has been loved in both the roles.

Jagapathi Babu’s popularity stems from the fact that the actor has never confined himself to one bracket. While many leading actors hesitate to take up supporting roles, Jagapathi didn’t hold himself back since the beginning and won awards and acclaim for his performance in films such as Athahpuram and Srimanthudu, proving his versatility as an actor.

The actor is also aware of the pan-India phenomenon but has shared how he doesn’t view cinema as cinema from the North or the South.

Festive offer

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Jagapathi Babu commented on the pan-India wave and said, “It is a super healthy trend. This is because cinema is the only one world, it’s not just the South or North. Cinema is universal, acting is universal. There is no language barrier, not a state or a country is a barrier for it. It can be done anywhere in the world. It’s very healthy because there is an exchange happening. There is a new experience for the audience. They see more faces, people are getting more opportunities and things have opened up with Baahubali.”

Jagapathi’s place in the pan-India wave is bringing him projects that are bigger and mass-ier in scale. He has been roped in for Allu Arjun’s Pushpa The Rise. The actor will also be seen in Suriya’s Kanguva, which is directed by Siva and also stars Disha Patani and Bobby Deol. In Bollywood, Jagapathi’s journey is just getting more interesting. He will be seen in Aayush Sharma’s next film Ruslaan, which is directed by Katyaayan Shivpuri.
