Absolute complete viewing order of every single DC Animated show/movie
Hey everyone,
I haven't watched any of the dc animated films/shows bar under the red hood and a bit of young justice. I am looking at the watch order wiki and I see it includes all the actual DC produced shows and movies, but I don't see any of the others shows like The Batman and Young Justice. I assume they are in their own continutities, but I'd still like to see them on some list so I can see a viewing order for those.

That should be everything? In watch order, I think. The old, old cartoons are fuzzy with their timeline/canon and the stand alone stuff doesn't matter when you watch it.
[Edit FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE!]
April 21st 2023 Added new movies
September 4th 2023 Added more things
Comment of the fucking year. This is what I was looking for. Every single piece of media, not just the DCAU films/shows. I wonder if any of those old live action shows are worth watching. Thanks a ton.

Just a nerd with poor time management skills.
Well, the best nerd with poor time management skills there is!
Sorry, I might be blind but is Freedom Fighters The Ray on the list?
He listed under series above
Never heard of it before now.
Is Aquaman king of Atlantis on the list?
Just wanna shout out seeing you updated this yesterday, google brought me here and your list helped me out a lot
Glad that people still find it useful.
TBH, it was madenas a joke as nobody needs to watch all the things to enjoy one show/movie, it kind of just ended up as a nearly full list.
super cool that you're updating this, thanks
Speaking of, added the new Superman show and the few movies that weren't in the list.
you are truly a chad
This should be linked in the wiki/sticky post somewhere honestly. I keep coming back to their comment
Exactly
Whoa. Hell of a list. Thank you for your effort.
Thanks a Lot Sir!

I FORGOT JLAction!?!?!
No you had it under stand alone series
Under stand alone series
Thank You So Much for this! I have no idea when I'm gonna get around to watching every piece of media but thank you nonetheless. This sh*t is useful.
Is there anything that is missing from this list cannon or not. I want to start watching all this stuff but I want to watch it all including the none cannon stuff
Is there anything missing?
Probably. I've done my best to list everything as they come out. And there's things from the 40's-50's that I'm sure are lost to time and/or I just haven't heard of.
As far as cannon/not cannon, I'm not James Strecker, so I'm not going to try to "will it cannon?" all of this mess...
But the only "cannon" things are what are grouped together.
This is missing Merry Little batman
Added.
Didn't even know it existed.
Thank you thank you thank you!!! 🙏🏻
Amazing list, one question. I have heard of watching with some season splits,
Batman the Animated Series 1
Mask of the Phantasm [movie]
Batman the Animated Series 2-3
The other split is one Batman Beyond
Batman Beyond 1-2
Return of the Joker
Batman Beyond 3
Let me know your thoughts on the season splits. Also if I keep the splits I am not sure if I should put The Zeta Project after Return of the Joker or before or maybe after season 3.
Superman the animated series is after btams and in the middle of batman and Robin new adventures
is there a 2023 updated version?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomorrowverse
Everything else has been stand alone.
Thank you very much
Crisis and doom are cannon. Also superman brainiac is before so the the order is superman brainiac attacks, justice league crisis on 2 earths, justice league doom. Source: Bruce Timm
Do you think you can add the year beside everything on this list? I want to truly watch everything in order whether it's standalone or connected and the year info will help a lot.
No.
I've tried to keep everything in release order, unless there is an established timeline within the works (DCAU, DCAMU)
But to go back and date all of that is just too much extra work for me, however, you can use this list to find the release dates of everything of its really that important.
Okay and you will keep updating this list as newer works are released?
As long as I am able to, reddit posts do eventually get locked.
And as long as I remeber to 😅
What about battle of the super sons and blue beetle? They aren't on the list. Are they not something that should be watched?
The Blue Beetle short is part of The House of Mystery DC Showcase. Just forgot about Super Sons will update when I'm not at work.
Whether or not something is worth a watch was never the purpose of this list.
It was a tongue in cheek full list of every DC Animated property that I could think of to show that there is no interconnected order for all of DC'S stuff. Over time it just became a list of all the things.

Are those out yet?
Actually Vixen and freedom fighters: the ray are connected to arrowverse
Tbh the best you can do is just google “dc animated shows” and watch them in release order.
I've recently had to look this up and it honestly depends. Classic DCAU involves Batman the animated series, superman the animated series, teen titans, justice league, justice league unlimited, and movies like Brainiac's and Mask of the Phantasm/Mystery of the Batwoman.
New 52 DCAU starts with War and ends with JL Dark: Apockalips War, but then you also have movies like Doom, Batman/Superman's various titles, and stuff unrelated to either the classical DCAU continuity or the New 52. And then you have Young Justice, which is a thing unto itself.
Basically pick what lane you want, then look up a watch order from there but don't worry too hard on it as the continuity between DCAU stuff is looser. Especially the New 52 batch of movies.
Teen Titans is not DCAU. Static Shock and Zeta Project are.
Fair play, Robin is distinctly different in that as is and had already become Nightwing in the old AU so I don't know why i included it, I think probably because I'm currently binge-watching it. So Titans is it's own separate continuity? I knew Static Shock was DCAU, didn't and honestly, somewhat shamefully, dont know what Zeta Project is
Zeta is a spin-off from Batman Beyond.
still though i think you'd agree that the Animated fare DC has has a very hard to follow 'watch order' in terms of any watch order there is lol
DC has their Animated things in little "pocket dimensions", for lack of a better phrase.
The New 52 movies, the new movies, the Timm/Dini universe, etc.
But they mostly put out stand alone stuff. You don't need to watch 80% of DC's stuff in any order, other than maybe release order.
Oh totally, depends on what you're looking for. Certainly the OG DCAU didn't do too much inter-show continuity, just crossover episodes if even that. New 52 definitely has a watch order and there's a little continuity in the superman/batman stuff like public enemies, doom, that came pre flashpoint and the new 52 series. But then you have a TON of elseworld type stuff like All Star Superman, Gotham By Gaslight, Long Halloween, some of the WW animations, etc. I've just been on a DCAU kick lately, and was really surprised to see new episodes of New Justice pop up today right as I had finished a rewatch. Personally that's the above-all winner of the shows thats not BtAS for me.
Where is the New Titans live action shoe with four seasons?
the pinned post on this subreddit has a link to a huge list, but it’s not very specific for the older 90s and 2000s shows (BTAS, STAS, JL and JLU, plus a few others i think). but if you scroll down a bit you’ll find a comment that specifies on those. as for movies like under the red hood, there’s no particular order, i don’t really think there’s any continuity whatsoever. there’s also the DCAMU which are the new 52 ones, those do have a continuity (and there’s a few teen titans movies, so if you like JY, you’ll like those), the list for those is on the link i mentioned at the beginning. and for YJ, i don’t think that there’s a single show or movie that happens in the same continuity, just the show’s four seasons and the tie in comics. there’s older comics called like that but it’s a different continuity.
Ok, i see all those shows and all, but what about the other shows like I mentioned before? Ones like young justice, the batman, batman brave and the bold, teen titans, beware the batman, teen titans go etc. Pretty much the ones for cartoon netowkr. Do any of those share continuity?
The only ones you need to worry about watching in any order is MAYBE Teen Titans and TTGo! Because EVENTUALLY you’ll watch TT vs TTGo the film, which brings back TT and you’d have no info on Easter eggs and such regarding the TT show within that film.

Yeah, I know. OP didn’t ask about those. All of the Cartoon Network shows listed in the comment I replied to are standalone.
All of those are standalone shows that don’t cross over. At most, they might have a movie tie-in.
Btw, Young Justice uses a very similar art style to the DCAMU movies, but don’t be fooled. They’re not connected.
This thread is a life saver. So question.... The tomorrowverse is connected to Batman the animated series? Basically btas - infinite crisis pt3??
Thank you thank you thank you!!! 🙏🏻
Here we go again.
Thanks!
This is not absolute, nor complete. Episodes contradict each other. Some Superman episodes take place prior to Batman’s first episode.
Needed this, thanks!
