IMDb change: Matthew Lillard Is Not Afton?

FNaF

I know MatPat was curious about the nameplate on the desk Afton was sitting behind in the trailer that said "Steve Raglan". Well now om IMDb, Matthew Lillard is not listed as playing William Afton, but rather Steve Raglan.

What do you guys think? Is this the movie's stand-in for Afton's character? Is this a pseudonym Afton is using? Some other twist? Twins separated at birth? I wouldn't put anything past the FNaF franchise at this point. 😅

On Dawkos stream Scott confirmed Matthew Lillard would play William Afton which is how we know so it's probably an alias just like Dave Miller.

Wonder if the reason they went with this is cause a lot of people associate the name with DSAF now

u/Face8hall avatar

Don’t yiff the fox

Rules are made to be broken, matey.

More replies

Sorry but what is DSAF?

u/ancilor avatar

A fangame called DayShift At Freddy's. Shaped a lot of FNAF humour.

Thank you

Afton's alias most likely

I damn hope it fucken is

More replies

it’s probably an alias like how Dave Miller in the books is

u/AverageFNaFEnjoyer56 avatar

Don't say it... Don't say it! Why hello there, Old Sport.

It’s confirmed that he’s William. Looks like a fake name setting up a plot twist reveal.

u/tfcollector3000 avatar

Probably would've been more effective of a twist reveal if Lillard wasn't revealed to be playing William

Yeah I’ve been wondering if the plot twist is that he is actually Henry and not William

I mean it'll probably still be a pretty good twist to those who vaguely know FNAF lore but aren't keep ing up with movie production, which I have a feeling a lot of the movie's audience will be.

It's already confirmed that he is Afton, so if they are trying to hide that then it's a bit late now

How many times does this have to be posted? 🤦

Most FnaF fans aren't very intelligent, I saw a post on the fnaf subreddit asking why the animatronics are big 😒

Are you serious???

Friendly reminder that anyone can edit (or suggest edits to) IMDB if they’ve made an account. Probably someone saw the trailer with the other name, and decided to change the credit.

Matt already confirmed he’s playing William, it’s just an alias mate

I like how most people think "Steve Raglan" is a stand-in for "Dave Miller" when to me I see it as a 3rd name change. I mean if I'm out here murdering kids, I know my first name will be found so it's best to have backup names.

I think its pretty safe to assume that its an alternate identity, or perhaps a misdirect.

I have also considered the idea that this FNAF movie could end up being an entirely different world with various characters acting as "stand ins" for their game/book counterparts. Maybe there is no William Afton, But perhaps this Steve Raglan fellow is an "Afton-like" character. Maybe Mike is literally just some dude named Mike that happens to share some parallels with the Mike/Michael whe know from the games.

Im not saying this should be the direction, or that I believe it is the direction they intend. But I'd say its a possibility. You can still tell the story of FNAF 1 (like Scott said), but do so with different characters.

Idk, its food for thought.

It's like the davemiller thing except to make it not so obvious to people who don't get involved in fnaf they changed it from Dae Miller to Steve raglan

He definitely is, they probably more than likely change it for the non-fnaf fans who don't know anything about Fnaf. It's so there is still a twist reveal. Us Fnaf fans know he's William

Nice, we'll have Peeta Mellark as Michael Afton!

We have known for a while he is afton. Steve Raglon is just a fake name like Dave miller in the books.

Raglan is his alias

Gullible

Did anyone notice that Elizabeth Lail is announced as Vanessa a.k.a. Vanny?

u/PepeGrillo14 avatar

"Steve Raglan" is most definetly an alias.

“Steve Raglan is actually a fake name for William Afton. And also, William Afton!s fake name is not “Dave Miller.” If you go to YouTube and look at the official trailer, you can see William Afton on a phone call with Mike Schmidt, and on William’s table, his name says “Stave Raglan.” Hope this helps

he is not called afton in the movie

EXCUUUUUUUUUSEEEEEEEEE MEEEEEEEE???????

u/Mr-Edward_Hyde avatar
Edited

well, Steve Raglan is ALMOST an anagram for "Everlasting", so yeah, o think that's quite a good fake name for him to hide up his identity.

u/No-Building-7072 avatar

No he is it's just there hiding it for general audiences because it's a spoiler if they go around calling him William

u/wolfheartfoxlover avatar

Are we just going to ignore the fact that Vanessa is here, I thought this was just the OG,

u/Real_Combination_390 avatar

He most probably changed his name to hide because he killed 5 children
