Dua Lipa's Sheer Dress and Visible Thong Brought the Naked Dress Trend to the ACM Awards

Nobody loves a sheer dress like Dua Lipa—and nobody perfects a naked dress like the pop star, either. On Thursday, the star made a surprise appearance at the 2024 ACM Awards for a secret duet with Chris Stapleton in a gown that was equally as shocking.

Just weeks after releasing her latest album, Radical Optimism, the star joined the country legend on stage, where she wore a purple-and-black patterned asymmetric halter dress with strategic lace-like rips resembling the leaves seen in the print. Lipa’s black bra and matching high-waisted thong were visible through the see-through dress that she styled with violet pointed-toe pumps. Lipa accessorized the look with a dainty silver bracelet, matching rings, and earrings all the way up the ears.

Her red hair was slicked into a ‘90-style updo and her glam included shimmery eyeshadow and a mauve lip.

The two singers surprised the audience by singing Stapleton’s "Think I'm in Love With You,” before breaking into a new duet that they have plans to release soon, according to Billboard.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Stapleton revealed that Lipa "threw herself into the mix," and the genre-bending collaboration was her idea from the start. 

"It was her idea, as far as I know. They kind of called us up and said, 'Hey, she would like to do this.' I was like, 'Are you sure?' And she's like, 'Yeah!'" he detailed. And, of course, when Lipa calls, you answer. So we got on the phone and talked about it and worked on it a little bit."

During the red carpet portion of the evening, Lipa arrived in another sheer ensemble featuring a black silk skirt and a see-through beaded blouse with strategically placed sequin-embellished chest detailing resembling sea shells.
