Hear me out: Tupac is the greek culture of rap, and Kanye is the african culture of rap

Discussion

Greek culture is that foundation of American culture. It's in the root of almost everything we do. Like Tupac in rap. In almost everything in rap, Tupac influenced it or did it first. Outspoken rappers? Tupac. Powerful, messaging music? Tupac. I can keep going. Now african culture. It's growing after making it's controversial appearance in American culture and now in the modern day, everyone accepts and uses it. Like Kanye in emotional rap, melodic rap, autotune as an instrument in rap, rappers in higher-end fashion, etc. Tupac is the greek culture with its roots in rap. And Kanye is the african culture that eventually dug into the modern culture of rap.

Hiphop already existed over a decade when 2Pac came on the scene. He did nothing first. He may have done things better but everything was already done. From powerful political messages to songs about empowering women, everything was already done before. He didn't make the track Old School as a dedication to those who came before him for nothing. Try again.

it’s not just only about who did it first, but also who became the face for it and made it more popular. which tupac did. like the greeks most likely weren’t the first to do everything they’re did. that’s impossible with history. but they did become the face for it and were the most influential for it. like how kanye wasn’t the first rapper to use soul samples or talk about things other than guns, drugs, and violence. carti? travis? i could keep going

Ok, but you yourself mentioned him doing shit first. So there's that.

Also, to compare an individual with an entire culture is a pointless analogy to say the least.

i mean he did shit first to the general public, no one care about who really really did shit first. it’s the one who influenced everyone to do it like him. 99% of inventions are not actually “invented” by the people who invented them

plus get off my dick wit that analogy bs, can’t people just have fun and make comparisons? like, “to compare an individual with an entire culture is a pointless analogy to say the least” - 🤓

general public

So you're saying acts like N.W.A and Public Enemy didn't reach the general public? Gtfoh.

It's okay to not know a lot about hiphop's history or to be too young to have experienced it or have a sense of how big their influences were. But don't make up shit just because you really like certain artists.
