About the Court
The Probate Court administers the filing and safe keeping of wills, probating of decedent estates, supervision of trusts, appointment of guardians and conservators over minors, adults, and developmentally disabled individuals, and processing of mental health treatment matters.

Form Usage
Pursuant to MCL 600.855 and MCR 5.113(A), any filing must be made on a form approved by the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) if one exists. Outdated forms may not be used. You can access more information about forms by clicking here.

   
Court Records - Access and Copies

Access to Records
You are welcome to visit the Probate Court Office to review the Court's public case records during public filing hours. Computer terminals and work spaces are available for your use. 

Purchasing Copies of Case Records
Copies of case records are available for $1.50 per page except that copies of transcripts on file with the Court are $0.30 per page. The fee to certify a copy is an additional $10 per record. Blank SCAO forms are available for $1 per form.
You are welcome to submit your request either in-person or by mail, fax, phone, or email.

Preparation of Transcripts of Hearings, Trials, and Other Proceedings
Please note that if a transcript has not yet been prepared and filed with the Court, the requester must contact the Court Recorder of the Judge the case is assigned to and arrange to purchase a copy of the transcript. The applicable fee is $1.75 per original page plus $0.30 per copy page. See MCL 600.878 and MCL 600.2543. The original transcript is filed with the Court and the copy is provided to the requester. Special Note Regarding Adoptions
Contact the 30th Circuit Court for information about adoptions. All adoption records in the custody of the Ingham County Probate Court were transferred to the 30th Circuit Court in the late 1990s. Click Here to go to the 30th Circuit Court's webpage for adoptions.

Special Note Regarding Name Changes
The Ingham County Probate Court has name change records for cases filed in 1997 and before.

Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (except holidays and other closures)
The Probate Court Office remains open over lunch.
