Unreachable Chicken Coup

Gameplay

I'm having some problem with the chicken coup, and wondering what I'm doing wrong, and if anyone else is having the same issue. After placing my coup, it says creatures are unable to access it, but with the chicken following me, I can duck into the coup and get the chicken to follow me in.

The coup is outside, in an area enclosed by a fence, and fortifications outside the fence. The area isn't flat, and I was suspicious that might be the cause, but the same seems to happen outside the fortifications, and on flat terrain.

I've tried building a foundation and putting the coup on the foundation, building a rustic coup, and placing the coup in many different places. Nothing seems to change.

My bird is laying eggs on the ground, between the food and water servers, and she won't move from that spot, despite being set to wander.

You don't want a chicken coup. They make terrible leaders.

We have found it is very fiddly, so we have been playing around with the navmesh settings for the chicken to make them better able to path to it.

Try make sure that the coup ramp has an area of flat nearby it, before say a placed ramp.

Longer term we want to develop more options other than the coup, such as a placeable deployable that is small so you can effectively build your own coup - but we are still working on this.

Worst comes to worst, you can do what I am doing which is build your own coup and pick the eggs up manually before they deteriorate.

I'm having a similar issue. I placed the Luxury Chicken Coop and then placed a hen right next to it and it is "unreachable". The coop is on a flat 4x4 area made from stone frames and floors.

I also am having issues with chickens being unable to follow me up ramps / stairs, so I have one chicken stuck below my coop area. Is there any way to move chickens or force them up a ramp?

It really seems like we should have the ability to pick up cats and chickens, but no, you just set them to follow.

I have a new behavior: The chicken who was hanging out between the water and food trough is now invisible, and lays invisible eggs. I'm guessing they are below the terrain somehow.

Also, I built my base overhanging a lake, and using the cliff face as one of the walls. My cat has twice now ended up in the drink, hungry and thirsty, and so not following well, and I have to jump down, set her to follow, and run around a while until they either rubber band to me, or figure out how to get out of the water.

This is irritating to say the least, and I'm not sure why they keep phasing through the floor.

I've raised a "suggestion" for the chicken / coop issues: Chickens & Chicken Coop Bugs - SurviveIcarus (featureupvote.com)

How did you deploy the chickens? Do i have to wait until it’s defrosted?

Have you tried building the Coop where she is laying the eggs anyway?

The place I’m putting the coup is right next to there, within a single floor tile, so effectively yes.

There are a couple of potential bugs with the rustic coop in specific. One, we've been told by the devs that the "unreachable" flag on it *isn't necessarily true*, as it doesn't always clear itself right when it should. Two, it seems like the little ramp they walk has to be slightly embedded in the ground for the unreachable flag to go away, so if you're placing it on the ground and can *just slightly* tilt it forward to push that ramp into the ground a little, it may clear up that problem.

The red coop doesn't seem to be as finicky, so it's likely a model issue. But I know they're looking into it.

Exactly the same issue. It seems impossible to have the Unreachable flag clear.

I have built foundations, then placed the coop, then added flooring (to embed the ramp into the floor) still no go.

I've placed on flat dirt, sloped dirt, it just doesn't work.

Interestingly, the chicken was dropping eggs into the food trough, which I thought was weird.

Another question, is the idea of the eggs being laid in the coop, that they hatch, and create another chicken? There are some cool chook recipes, but with eggs hatching this seems unachievable

My chickens do not use it at all, not sure why

Try building it on top of some flooring to have a flat area it worked for me when I moved it into my old base I turned into a barn
