SASSON--Lois, Lois Sasson of Manhattan passed away at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center on Wednesday, December 30. She was 80 years old. The cause was complications from COVID-19. Artist. Designer. Film Producer. Feminist. Activist. Entrepreneur. Humanitarian. Philanthropist. Beloved sister and aunt. Cherished friend. Longtime partner of pop music icon, Lesley Gore who passed away in 2015, Lois was iconic in her own right. Lois designed luxury jewelry for prominent private clients and leading department stores, Bergdorf-Goodman and Neiman Marcus. A pioneering feminist, she advanced the rights of women and people across the globe. As a philanthropist, she performed many acts of kindness and charity under the radar. A political activist, she was a longtime friend, and confidant to Bella Abzug, member of the U.S. House of Representatives and co-founder of the National Women's Political Caucus. She remained politically engaged until the end of her life. Lois was a generous, kind, complex and wise woman, well known for her sharp wit and intellect. In her lifetime, she cast a wide net, with friends across the world. She meant so much to many and will be missed by all. Born Lois Kahaner, she is survived by her beloved sister, Susan Kahaner, also of Manhattan; niece, Lisa Dalinka and her husband and great-niece and nephew Sophie and Matthew. Contributions may be made to American Lung Association.

Lois will be missed,
I have known and worked in the Jewelry industry with Lois for over 30 years. She had foresight and vision. She was kind and inspiring. Most of all she always wanted to see people succeed. She was a friend, a mentor, and will be missed very much. May her memory remain Within us.

Lois was a rock- in her own right. Brilliantly wry with a dry sense of humor, she was a wonderful friend. We will miss her as a representative of a better, more human and human time where originals were celebrated.

I have lost many patients and with each death I feel the loss of that persons life, there loved ones loss and many things. But I am truly sad that you passed away. You were a magnanimous and generous person. Caring for you as your doctor was a gift, you made my job easy even when I couldn’t help you. I appreciated so much getting to know you and I wish I could have done more for you. I hope you are at peace now and reunited with Lesley.
