Officially the BCCI and IPL governing council has not revealed anything but unofficially the news is out that 1,166 players have registered for the IPL 2024 auction. The mini-auction is set to take place on 19 December and will reportedly be hosted in Dubai. This will be the first time an IPL auction will be taking place outside India.
As per Cricbuzz, 830 out of 1,166 are Indian players with the number of overseas players standing at 336. There are 212 capped, 909 uncapped and 45 Associate players.
18 capped players will be part of the auction and only four of them – Harshal Patel, Kedar Jadhav, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav – have opted for a maximum base price of Rs 2 crore.
The Rs 2 crore base price is dominated by Australia’s World Cup-winning stars like Sean Abbott, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Starc, Steve Smith, as per ESPNCricinfo.
In total, the ten franchises have 77 slots to fill including 30 for foreign players.
