- Dave PSouthend on Sea17 contributionsDuring a recent holiday near Guia, we had a number of cloudy days. Having done all the usual tourist attractions we decided to have a drive out to Arade Dam and then onto Funcho Dam Barragen.
The dam is situated at the end of a 7KM track off the main road. There are good views of the lakes containing the water and the local countryside on the drive to the dam.
On arrival at the 'dry' side of the dam the road comes to an abrupt end at a barrier next to a derelict and overgrown Picnic spot. I walked the rest of the way down a very step hill to the dam area, it looked like it had been abandoned. I was contemplating climb some steps going up the side of the dam, but then it decided to pour down with rain.
What could have been a very interesting day out was let down by a derelict picnic site, no information about the dam, and no notices or maps regarding walks in the local area (would have loved to of hiked up to the trig point if I had known about it.

- Ines M1 contributionI loved it here. I don’t have much riding experience but thanks to the ladies working there I felt very comfortable during the ride. They handed me a horse that was the right fit for me. It was an experience I will never forget. The views during the walk are fantastic. I would 100% recommend coming here if you’re looking for a nice time with horses and good people. He and his friend came back from the trip saying it was the best thing they had ever done and can’t wait to do it again. The quad bikes are modern and in very good condition and their instructor was very knowledgeable about the countryside.
