Overall the hotel was a decent stay. The room was fairly clean and in good shape. Basic amenities supplied which was very nice however when drawing a bath/shower, black buildup came out of the faucets at first. The buffet had few selections and no ice cream at all. The fried chicken was delicious. The breakfast ran out an hour before it was scheduled to close. The breakfast room was very small and not very clean. The staff was very nice and very welcoming in the hotel and dining areas. The pool was out of commission for remodeling. This caused some rooms to experience AC outages and the lack of a pool near a holiday weekend seemed to be very poor scheduling. Probably won't be back!

I have mixed feelings about this resort. If you aren’t interested in amenities like a great continental breakfast, being informed of services offered and made up rooms for a stay longer than one night, but instead are looking for the convenience of a casino for entertainment and a bar to get drinks then this may be an option for you. Continental breakfast consisted of toast, two kinds of cold cereal, packets of instant oatmeal and waffles, although the syrup container was empty and they needed to wait for the manager to arrive with the key before it could be filled. They do have two restaurants next to the casino, of which we tried the buffet, which was busy. It was Friday evening and they had prime rib which was pretty decent, but overall it wasn’t something I would rush back for. I do have to say that the staff that we interacted with were all friendly and made us feel welcome. It was nice to be able to get outside and walk around the grounds and down to the lake and not be along a busy highway.

We met up with friends at the Spirit Lake Casino and Hotel, what a let down. When you walk in hotel lobby, the signs say
1) turn guns in at front desk
2) If you clean fish in your room you will be charged a fee
3) The pool is closed for 4 months.
The smell of smoke was overwhelming as soon as you got inside the building, the only break from the smoke was in your room. The rooms all have some kind of physical damage from wear and the painter's must of been blindfolded when doing the bathrooms as paint is all long the sides of the tub surrounds. Our bed techinally was a bed but very uncomfortable and my wife woke up with a bite on her neck, hopfully not a bed bug. Our friends took had a grand suite with large hot tub that did not function and a balcony that was taped off in plastic due to pool reconstruction. The only place to eat was a buffet that you had to wait 90 minutes to get into, good thing the food was cheap because it was not good. No reason to stay here ever unless you have too !

Just finished up a week long Fishing trip at Devils Lake. Our group of 7 stayed in Cabin 1 at Spirit Lake Marina. The general staff and accomodations were good however Annabelle the Marina Manager was not so good. She treated our group very poorly.

The first mishap was when the Spirit Lake rental fishing almost sunk on us. When the boat was pulled from the lake there was no drain plug. Annabelle gave us no apology or concern for our safety and the response from her was you will pay for damage's.

The next mishap was Annabelle sending uniform security to our cabin asking us why we did not check-in for 2 rental boat slips. We did check-in when we arrived and were given 2 card keys and 2 slips. When we went to her office to relay this information..... she quickly dismissed us with no apology for her mistake.

The last mishap was Annabelle keeping our security deposit and charging another 100.00 more for supposedly 2 broken chairs and 2 broken beds. Before checkout I asked her to please do a walk through to make sure all was good with the cabin. She declined and said there was no need for it. When I saw the charge on my CC I tried contacting her and have so far received no phone call...no email...no communication what so ever.
I'm working with Chase Bank to remedy the dispute.

So my recommendation is until Annabelle is removed from her role one should think hard before booking a trip to Devils Lake Marina cabins.

Will never set foot in this place again. Dirty does not cover it. A friend had bed bugs in his room and pictures to prove it. We left as soon as found that out. They would not refund his $ or even talk to him about it.

We couldnt get into our rooms till 6 pm...check-in is at 4pm. At the breakfast the beef was bloody even though we asked them to correct it twice! When we asked for straws the waitress told us they dont provide them in an irritated tone. To ice the cake the casino charged my sister three different transactions for a room. We confirmed with the bank and the casinoo was unwilling to admit it. They said we were trying to con them! After 4 hrs of arguing Jackie who was the woman handling the problem dared called security! She finally reveresed the transaction but still refuses to apologize. The worst hotel ever and the worst staff! Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!!

My extended family and I stayed here when we got together for my grandma's birthday, and it was by far the worst hotel experience that I've ever had. The rooms were very dirty; my husband and I discovered a plate of old, moldy food under the air conditioner in our room on the first night. When we asked to switch rooms, the staff was very rude and acted like we were an inconvenience to them. No one apologized for the filth. Instead, we were told that it wasn't their fault that the room wasn't clean because no one was supposed to be staying in that room anyway. The air conditioning wasn't working in the cabin my aunt rented or in my parent's room. The water in the hot tub was a moss green color and had caution tape around it the entire time we were there. I heard maintenance workers talking about a gas leak with a sewer smell, and I also heard other customers complaining about their dirty rooms. Most of all, the customer service was horrendous! I've never encountered a hotel staff that literally just doesn't care if you're stay is uncomfortable for any reason. DO NOT stay here - complete waste of money and not worth the stress!

Four of us checked in to two rooms. When we got to room no furniture except a bed, three days later still no furniture. Housekeeping must have been on vacation since in the three days of our stay, rooms were never cleaned, beds were never made, towels were never changed out!!!! On the third day when i returned the room door was open???? Nothing had been cleaned, there was a basket of new soap sitting on the bathroom counter and the towels we had left hanging were folded and laid back on the shelf! At this point, we began to wonder who had selep in the sheets on our bed the night before??? Staff were very rude and never saw a smile on any of them.not a bit helpfull. This was really the worst experience we have had in our extensive travels around the northwest. DO NOT STAY. The only saving grace, the buffets were great. Good food and reasonable price.

Don't stay here. If you complain about the horrible service they'll just tell you to stay at another hotel. Don't support their already struggling casino. Horrible customer service. As Ghetto as it gets. There is a sign before you enter the casino that says ( don't meth with spirit nation) at first I thought it was miss spelt and it meant to say ( don't MESS with spirit nation). But then after all the bad service and experience. I realized it wasn't mis- spelt. Maybe when your employees are not filled with so much hate. They will be able to provide some sort of customer service.

Unfortunately, we were more than disappointed with our stay at Spirit Lake Hotel. First off, after a 7 hour drive, we were disappointed that the casino & hotel was alcohol free. Our room would have been okay if it had been cleaner (when I took my shoes off, I felt the dirt under my feet). Not only did the hotel website make no mention of it being a dry hotel, it indicated that a hot breakfast was complimentary. Unfortunately, breakfast was $5.50 per guest and it was disappointing (cold rubbery scrambled eggs, dry stale pastries, etc.). To top it off, hotel & restaurant staff were not welcoming or accommodating to guests at all. Thankfully, we enjoyed a lovely dinner with drinks at a resort across the lake.
