Recommendations of Youtube-download sites?
I like a lot of old series of vids from already dead content creators, and I'm afraid that they'll slowly disappear from Youtube. I wish to be able to download them and burn them on CDs,
any recommandations?
Yarr! ➜ u/LittleSadPluto, some tips about "Youtube":
Use Firefox + uBlock Origin with these optimized settings.
Then go to Dashboard > Filters lists > Purge all caches > Update now.
This enables the majority of advertisements and dubious URL redirects to vanish.
It is also advised to navigate the seas using a desktop PC environment.

yt-dlp
Best thing about yt-dlp is how it's not limited to yt. Goddamn I love open source piracy.
JDownloader2 also works
Ive never been able to successfully download anything with JDownloader that a video download extension couldn't grab. When i try, it just downloads html files and nothing useful, lol. ffmpeg and yt-dlp are way better for downloads. Especially ffmpeg for membership websites
I just got yt premium so that I could download videos before they get removed. Only to learn that it downloads them encrypted. Would ffmpeg be better than yt-dlp because yt premium is membership?
Thid also works for a lot of other sites. Though it doesnt work for paid streaming sites in my experience.
Ive grabbed a few videos from vimeo
This is the way!
FTW
This. If you are not used to command prompts, GUI companions exist.
This. Thank you sir/miss.
These websites are often full of ads & malware and the quality can be quite low. I recommend you use yt-dlp (you can find a lot of GUI versions on Github & F-Droid)
yt-dlp, as others have mentioned. It's what 99% of the youtube downlaod websites run in the background. The only difference is that it runs on the command line instead of having a GUI. But these days it's good to know your way around a command line IMO.
Once its installed its literally just writing:
Alternativrly, start with
By default it saves to the folder youre in, in the terminal.
i use yt-dlp -f - "<link>", shows all formats as well, and you can mix video and audio. massive W software fr.
Stacher.io
I’m surprised more people haven’t mentioned this.
This is the best software I've ever used for downloading YouTube stuff. Such a great program, it even does full playlists pretty easily.
Yeah as someone who knows fuck all about coding, I tried YT-dlp but couldn’t for the life of me figure it out. I now use Statcher.io daily
This is the only way
Wow! Looking for this for years! Thanks!
can't thank you enough for this ~ real life saver
Oh wow this works so well thanks
Internet download manager. Been around forever. https://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/
One program to rule them all YT-DLP, it's a command line based program, and its usage is straight forward.
If you want to download a video with the highest video and audio quality, just invoke
yt-dlp <URL_OF_THE_VIDEO>
and if you want to choose a specific format you view if fist byyt-dlp -F <URL_OF_THE_VIDEO>
and the know the number and download usingyt-dlp -f### <URL_OF_THE_VIDEO>
.Take a quick look at the documentation if you want more options, and it's a good investment of your time if you are into downloading videos from YouTube.

Love you guys on hheah
I use 9xbuddy. It's in fmhy.
Hark ye & listen to me, for there shall be none other than yt-dlp
If you have an android phone, try newpipe
For android Seal on f-droid is GOATED or Vidmate can also do the job nicely
Didn't know about those, gonna give them a try later. Thanks!
I have found an even better one, ytdlnis on github. It also uses ytd-lp but it is far better than Seal.
Save From (dot) Net is cool
i used this yesterday https://ytmp3.nu/
On android Seal by Junkfood on github is pwetty nice Works for anything else you share to it btw
Any Video Converter, it has a download function.
If you're on phone, NewPipe.
On PCs, IDM works great.
download 4k video downloader, free version
If you got an android Newpipe is your best buddy
I use yt2file.com it's pretty straight forward.
Many answered the first part well. I would recommend you not burn to CDs.. That media is arguably near extinct if not heading that direction, and contrary to those that say the media will live for decades, the shelf life of them CDs is ~5-10 years.
A hard disk / ssd may be better. I.e., portable hard disk, NAS storage, etc.
I don't know about that shelf life. I recently found my cd collection I haven't touched since high school 20 years ago, a mix of original albums and burned discs, and I had no issues playing them or ripping them to my computer. Not a single issue with any of them.
yeah my win7 dvd boots up just fine
Yea fair enough. I guess it depends on the quality of the media you bought. But I still say CDs are heading the way of the dodo. Plus ~650MB per disk may. It be enough to store one or two high quality YT downloads. Yea DVDs are larger but still, having a 1-4TB disk or two may be more convenient.
I use a program called "4K Video Downloader" it sounds sketch, but it works great. 30 downloads a day with the free version
You know there's plenty of free options that allow limitless numbers of downloads, right? I recommend you give JDownloader2 a look.
4k downloader.
Why the commentless downvotes?! I've been using this program for years now and it's so good. First of all it's free, allows for video download in all definitions, audio only download in multiple formats, download subs... It also has batch playlist download, and so on.
Best program out there.
No idea, I been using the paid version for years now, works flawlessly.
I recommend JDownloader2. It's got all the features you mentioned, and then some. And it's free too.
I personally use https://wave.video/convert/youtube-to-mp4-330 since it has no ads but it is very slow when downloading in mp3 format
Not a website but YouTube-dl is amazing!
https://dentex.github.io/
yt-dlp for command line and JDownloader2 for visual interface.
Both work great, have a ton of options and work natively with playlists.
cobalt.tools is one of my favorite sites to download videos from youtube or twitter
I think you can get browser extensions on firefox for that now.
Now? I've had it for years! You can't download in 1080p but most old videos are 720p at most.
I haven't used it in a few years and I wasn't sure if it was one of those things that had been cracked down on or not.
Nah, still works, at least it was a few days ago. I download most videos I need to watch. The ads are unbearable.
keepvid dot works
snaptube
YT Saver is an amazing app. Let's you save any thing form a link
I’m a fan of ClipGrab
There is also some good telegram bots you can try
Just use the app JDownloader2. Copy the YouTube URL, the app picks it up from the clipboard, and you can download from there. You can even setup some complex rules for how to name files and where to save them.
Does vance kit still work. I don't use google.
Download from a verified invidious instance at invidious.io
easier to use:
https://github.com/ErrorFlynn/ytdlp-interface
more complex but can download from most websites:
https://jdownloader.org/jdownloader2 (choose other)
I don't usually do this since when something gets popular it gets ruined. But, I do have pass on the karma since I was helped in the past and a bunch of music was taken down that I have........acquired.
Newpipe apk. Get it on your phone through the github. Watch whatever on youtube, then look it up on newpipe and download it. They do offer the audio only option as well for downloads. So for Frederick knudsons down the rabbit hole vids(some over 3 hours long) I can have them for when work gets boring.
I use new pipe instead of youtube on my phone because I can play vids in the background with the screen off.
Internet Download Manager is The best , and not only on YouTube ,it can download with many streaming sites . plus the download speed of IDM is insane .
jdlder idm, stop using download sites lol
Try shutterencoder. Great tool, including for downloading YouTube videos
yt-dlp is the best in my opinion.
DVDvideosoft
You can try Smoothdownloader . It allows you to download YouTube videos seamlessly. Its an ads-free platform. Users don't need to make any payment of subscription to use this online tool. Also, this tool offers lots of other online downloaders.
