Nick Love A Town Called Malice

A Town Called Malice: Nick Love Returns To The Costa Del Crime

Nick Love & Vertigo Films are now officially working on A Town Called Malice, a forthcoming crime saga set on the Costa del Crime in the early 1980s.

Nick Love & Vertigo Films will be revisiting the Costa del Crime once again in the early 1980s with A Town Called Malice, a Sky Original series which is set to follow in the footsteps of the cult classic, The Business, from 2005. Working alongside Rogue State & Sky Studios, we can now unveil that production for A Town Called Malice has officially started & will air on Sky Max & Now TV in 2023. The Sky Original series is an eight-part crime drama set on the flamboyant Costa del Sol in the early 80s and follows the Lords, a crime family of petty thieves from South London. Just like Danny Dyer left London to “Be Someone” in The Business from 2005, the Lords also head to Spain’s notorious Costa del Crime to escape a murder enquiry & reclaim their former glory days.

The stellar line-up includes the likes of Jason Flemyng (Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels) as the Lord families top dog, Albert Lord. Jack Rowan (Born to Kill & Peaky Blinders) plays the youngest son Gene & Tahirah Sharif (The Haunting of Bly Manor) plays Gene’s girlfriend Cindy Carter. When speaking to Sky about the cast Nick Love said; What an amazing cast. I am so lucky to finally be working with some of my favourite actors and childhood heroes. I couldn’t be more excited to see how they bring the Lord family to life.”

Harking back to the same sportswear driven era of The Business, 80s Casual Classics will be working alongside Nick Love for the wardrobe of the film so expect plenty of style driven sportswear classics. The Business marked the next chapter of British crime thrillers and starred a young Danny Dyer alongside Tamer Hassan & Geoff Bell. Throwing a spotlight on the glamorous ex-pat gangster lifestyle of the 1980s era on the ‘Costa del Crime’, the film gave us more Italian sportswear than you thought was actually possible on the big screen.

The Costa del Sol became a haven for British criminals on the run in the early 1980s thanks to Spanish extradition laws, with areas like Marbella becoming a hotbed of champagne, cocaine & cockney gangsters. Also filmed on the sun-drenched coast lines of the Costa del Sol, The Business re-ignited a love for casual sportswear from the 1980s, closely followed by a revival of 80s casual brands such as Fila & Sergio Tacchini. The Business also marked the next chapter for 80s Casual Classics with hundreds of queries about the OG 80s styles that featured in the film.

Be sure to keep posted at 80s Casual Classics for further updates surrounding Nick Love’s forthcoming crime drama ‘A Town Called Malice’.
