Great for walkers

We really enjoyed the hotel itself. The pool servers were excellent, we loved Anna.. The bed was comfortable and room was spacious. Breakfast and service were consistently great. What was a disappointment was upon our arrival, being very tired from an overnight flight- upon check in - the front desk staff was not only impolite, but when we asked to pay for an upgraded room- they told us we couldn’t get the upgrade because we had already booked a deluxe room in advance and they couldn’t change it. Very disappointing. In hotels, typically the front desk is happy to accommodate with surcharge if required. Was surprised and disappointed.

We booked a room for three persons on Booking, when we arrived at the hotel at 4 p.m. the receptionist informed us that we didn’t booked the room, but that he could find us a 2 separate rooms therefore we had to pay for those two rooms. After a discussion with him, he and his superior found a solution: 2 rooms for the same price as the one on Booking. Great weekend. Ironic obviously, 2 separate rooms for me and my kids. 2 days later when the check out moment arrived. We were surprised to learn that we had to pay 100€ in supplement because we went twice to the pool and didn’t know that it was 13€ per person/1h every time (small pool, spa and hammam not working) . Beside all that, the rooms were really clean and the hotel really good located. But me and my kids would not recommend this hotel.

Your account lacks credibility; if you have a Booking.com reservation, please provide evidence. Booking.com consistently safeguards its customers, and they will certainly assist you if you believe we are being unfairly accused. Additionally, as clearly stated on all websites, including Booking.com, access to the spa incurs a fee of 15 euros per person, not the 13 euros you mentioned. I booked this hotel as it had a small indoor pool which I wanted to have as a backup as I thought the weather might be bad. Unfortunately it rained most of our visit and I was very disappointed to discover the indoor pool was for 14 years plus which I didn't see highlighted anywhere on the website. The kids were so disappointed.
We stayed in a family room which was really nice. There was loads of space and a choice of beds for the kids. We booked breakfast with our room which was very tasty and a very good choice was offered.
The location of this hotel is excellent and has nearby metro stations also.
The reception staff were very helpful and organised an airport transfer when we requested one. We did find it a little hard to communicate with much of the reception staff as only one spoke very good English.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again in better weather so we could use the lovely outdoor pool.

Medium-nice hotel, great location, big rooms, comfy pillows, good pool... BUT two major issues that mean I will never stay there again: Staff and strong cigarette smell in the room.
Understaffing delayed our check in. Rooms weren't ready by check-in time. We got one about half an hour late, and the other much later than that. As a family with little kids, including a baby, this was very difficult (wasting holiday time and also the kids were going mad). The excuse was that everyone checks out at 12 and they need to clean all the rooms by 3. My response was: "Hire more cleaning staff!!" Similarly, the front desk was understaffed. Always a queue. Staff were friendly enough but I didn't feel they really cared. Also, they didn't seem to know much about how I could get to various places whenever I asked them for the best route.
However, my BIGGEST complaint was that for the last two nights, a horrendous smell of cigarette smoke came filtering into my room. Turning the air conditioning on or off didn't make any difference. It was about 2am. I called the front desk, they said they'd call our neighbours. Nothing happened and me and the baby had to sleep in that stink. I complained the next day and they said, "We tried, but..." Same thing happened the following night. No change. I was livid. There was no offer of an alternate room, no goodwill gestures, no offers of a refund or anything. It totally ruined my holiday. It would have clearly been obvious the next day which room it was whose occupants were smoking: it would have stunk! But they just didn't do anything. Very disappointing.

My sincere apologize for any possible inconveniences during your stay. The hotel follows strict process of cleanness in order to guarantee the comfort to our guest. It is forbidden smoke in the hotel facilities or even bedroom. If any guest smokes, the penalty is 200€. On your situation, the hotel had contacted the neighbours with no answer. We are totally aware about the discomfort of this smell and we were taking actions in order to stop it. Regarding the Check in, once again, our sincere apologizes. Officially it is from 15h. Just returned from an amazing stay at Catalonia Ramblas. It is situated in the perfect part of Barcelona that allows for easy exploration. We arrived at 9am fully expecting to just do a bag drop and wait for our room to be ready...but instead they allowed us to check in right away, and they upgraded our room from a Superior to a Premium Suite with a private rooftop pool and terrace. Well don't mind if I do! The bellhop took our bags for us and led us to our room. He was friendly and charming (wish I could remember his name!) and we got to know him over the course of our stay. When we got to the room, he gave us a quick tour and all we could say was WOW. It was like the cover of a travel magazine.
We also opted to add on the daily breakfast and we were so glad we did. It was an amazing setup; lots of different choices both hot and cold dishes and even a cooked-to-order omelette station. We looked forward to breakfast each morning.
In all, a fabulous stay in a fabulous location. We will definitely return here for future stays; no point in looking anywhere else!

This was our second stay in this hotel and we would definitely return. Great service, room size, lovely pool area (considering its central location) and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds and bedding were so comfy and the check out was noon, often in cities hotels are very impersonal but we did not experience that in this hotel. We would definitely recommend it.

We had booked a room at the Catalonia Atenas but when we got there electricity was out one a whole floor. They kindly sent us to the Ramblas where we were welcomed, and did not charge us for the upgrade (3 to 4 stars). The Catalonia Ramblas is a luxurious, comfortable hotel and the personnel is friendly and helpful (Hola Daria and Laura!) Our meal in the Pelai restaurant was one of the best we had in Spain, and the service was impeccable. Even the maid in the lobby lounge early next morning greeted me cheerfully and showed me how to make myself a coffee. All in all a most pleasant experience!

We stayed one night after our cruise. The room was comfortable, great rainfall shower, nice view of city. Breakfast was delicious, with hot and cold options. You are only one block from La Rambla and shopping and restaurants. We walked 5 minutes to the Aerobus back to the airport, cost only $6 Euros.

Excellent location for exploring Barcelona City. I came at the start of winter so missed the pool. The hotel, like the others in the Gothic quarter is built within the old building frames and is sprawling inside. This will cause some rooms to have very weak and intermittent WiFi like mine. Come with good mobile provider else you will be transported to the pre-modern age. Breakfast was good but 4 star standard. Major major focus on European tourists and Asians get left out the the cuisine. Service was generally good except for the days they forget to come by. Call for service when needed. As stated, a less than perfect stay.

I debated on writing a review but as I reflected on the hotel and how much we paid, I felt I needed to share our experience. Pros-Location, the front doorman who helped us with our room key issues, and cleanliness (until we had ants.) Cons- We stayed in the ‘best suite in the hotel’ only to have trouble with our room key FOUR times and the supposedly new employee at the front desk ‘mistakenly’ told me everything in our room was extra cost, including the coffee and champagne. The hotel offered us free breakfast on our last day, which really did not make up for the terrible service and at the price we paid for our room. We’ve been to Barcelona before and I wanted to splurge on the hotel so my family can have a memorable experience. I tried to make the best of the situation. Definitely won’t go back here again. There are so many other hotels in the area with better service.

We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay. We would like to clarify a few points: The coffee in the room is included in all our suites, as well as the complimentary cava provided on the day of arrival. The minibar, however, is chargeable and clearly indicated with the price list. We do not understand the confusion regarding this and apologize for any misunderstanding. We also regret that you experienced issues with your room key and that our offer to invite your entire family to breakfast did not seem like adequate compensation for these inconveniences. Regarding the ants, as your suite features a large terrace with vegetation, it is possible they may have entered the room. We apologize for any discomfort this caused.
