The Chris Robinson Brotherhood have announced their next studio album, 'Barefoot In The Head,' due July 21 2017 on Silver Arrow Records. The 10-track effort, self-produced by the band, marks a third collection of new material in only two years time. For the fourth year in a row, The CRB will play over 120 shows with summer tour dates already announced and fall tour dates to be released shortly. - If their stellar new album, 'Barefoot In The Head,' is any indication, freedom suits the Chris Robinson Brotherhood well. The band is in the midst of one of their most prolific periods to date, with a slew of studio and live records coming out amidst a rigorous tour schedule that only seems to fuel their fire even further. 'Barefoot In The Head' finds the band pushing boundaries and breaking new ground with more joy and wonder than ever before. The album showcases the continued growth of Robinson's songwriting partnership with his bandmates (guitarist Neal Casal, drummer Tony Leone, keyboardist Adam MacDougall, and bassist Jeff Hill), while reveling in the kind of playful adventurousness that can only come from five artists tuned in to the same sonic wavelength.

Love this album and was stoked to hear it on vinyl. As soon as the needle dropped, I noticed the song sounded different and once Chris started singing way too low I discovered this album is mastered at 45 rpm. While I appreciate the thought that 45rpm may have better sonics, for those of us with belt drive turntables with no automatic speed control, this is a royal pain in the you know what to change the record speed (remove platter and manually change belt position). Please artists, keep 45 rpm relegated to the 7” singles and keep your lp records at 33.3333333. Amazon made no mention of the record speed or I may have reconsidered my purchase.

Always beautiful, sometimes funky, and absolutely for real - this, I believe, describes the music of the CRB. They sound like an actual band, which, of course, they are! But what I mean is that this album is not a vehicle for any one player (or singer) to illuminate more than another. For all that's been said of Chris' ego, he appears to be quite magnanimous these days with his musicianship. He's managed to snag a batch of top notch players who are sympathetic to his tunes, all of which are spectacular on Barefoot in the Head. Lots of acoustic guitars and breezy lyrical passages and tight arrangements...yet with not an ounce of polish or pretense. Great record. Great performances. Highly recommended.

Another solid record from the CRB. Interesting how they evolve with each release - for example, their first album, Big Moon Ritual contained seven songs ranging in length from 7:08 to 11:54, whereas this latest release features 10 songs, ranging from a tight 3:08 to 5:53, though eight of the 10 clock in at less than five minutes. Given the length of the songs, the clean production, the nice melodies, you'd almost think they were trying to make a hit record or get songs on the radio. And yet anyone remotely familiar with Chris Robinson and the CRB know that making hits or trying to be remotely commercial is simply not even up for consideration. So it's just a different CRB album, a nice platter of tunes ranging from acoustic ballads to more uptempo nuggets. The solos are still there, though of course a bit tighter than on previous records given the shorter songs, but Neil Casal and Adam MacDougall still shine. There's nothing as dark, heavy and (dare I say Crowesian) as "Forever As The Moon" and "Badlands, Here We Come" from recent records, this one still rocks with the likes of "Hark, The Herald Hermit Speaks." While some Crowes fans just don't dig the CRB, anyone who digs the CRB will certainly dig this fun album.

I can't stop listening to this CD since I brought it home the day it was released. While much has been said and written about the demise of the Crowes, one positive thing coming out of it is the competition between the Brothers Robinson. Think about it, anyone notice the release dates for their albums going back the last five years are almost right on top of each other. Talk about sibling rivalry!

Best cut on this releases for me is "Glow", in my opinion one of the best things Chris Robinson has ever written.

Have seen the CRB 22 times and have all of their studio recordings. After 4-5 listens this might be the best studio recording yet by the Brotherhood. If you're a crowes fan, definately don't buy this and expect to hear hard to handle, this is not that. Its much more complex and isn't for the every day listener, CRB is leaps and bounds above what The Black Crowes were and I really hope that train has left the station and there are ZERO more TBC crows. Jump on the hallucinogenic hay ride, this is a good one!

Great record. Not sure why this vinyl was 45 RPM. I'm sure it is better quality (?) but I would have been just as happy to have kept it a 33 and not have to change it so many times. Thats me only gripe! This stage of Brotherhood feels a lot more like New Earth Mud and there is NO vinyl for that so I am happy to get this instead. Brotherhood keeps getting better and better.

Love this band! Love this record! CRB has really eveolved over the last few years. Not only have they proven themselves formidable on stage, but also in the studio! Great songwriting layered playing and a beautiful feel. As a Chris/Crowes fan since first seeing him back in'89, I was initially saddened to see the Crowes hang it up, but the music he is making now and the live shows have taken things to a new level. I hope continues for many years to come. Adam is a keyboard wizard and Neal's guitar work is simply beautiful.

What a wonderful day: Some time to myself and a brand new CRB album, can there be anything more glorious? I don't know anything about any California scene but my goodness that shining sun inspires some beautiful sounds from the CRB and enough to cheer me on a rainy Manchester afternoon. So here we go, another ride from the masters of trippy country prog rock. The themes may be strange and this is a piece of music that may not encourage you to fetch the dancing shoes down from the attic but it's going to keep me company for many years. CRB have the knack of creating something new whilst resting on the foundation of thousands of hours listening and creating moving rock music; it is different to their last release but not consciously so, just moving forward with their cosmic plans: Sweet and sour with a little honey. So to all those fans of the brotherhood, this is something to order and then pester the postie for each day until its arrival. Place the disc in the player and listen the the lesson in the blues, solve the riddles and look deep within yourself to bear witness to the conjurer of miraculous means. The change has begun and to those on the outside I suggest you go your separate ways. Peace to you all, may your God be with you.

Dans l'attente d'une hypothetique reformation des géniaux Black Crowes, leur leader j'ai nommé Chris Robinson revient avec une nouvelle galette gravée avec son deuxième groupe "Chris Robinson Brotherhood". Là exit tout ce qui faisait la force des Black Crowes, un son rock voire hard rock bien couillu. Ici c'est plutôt, coolitude à tous les étages. On baigne dans le folk rock avec un peu de psyché façon Grateful Dead. Même si cet album est très éloigné du southern hard rock, il est cependant très captivant. Les musiciens jouent vraiment très bien, les compos sont solides et la réputation du chanteur Chris Robinson n'est plus à faire. Sa voix est toujours aussi belle, puissante et prenante.
Si vous aimez la musique du Band, Neil Young, Du Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, achetez ce disque vous ne serez pas deçu !!!

Ich mag die CRB sehr. Ihre CDs enthalten immer wieder Songs für die Ewigkeit. Auf dieser hier finde ich eher keinen. Klar, das ist alles nicht schlecht, zum Teil sogar gut, aber groß ist es nicht. Die Songs plätschern häufig eher so dahin, nicht prägt sich so recht ein. Wäre für eine andere Kapelle gut, von der CRB hätte ich mehr erwartet. Vielleicht aber genau das Richtige fü "Einsteiger", denn diese Aufnahmen sind vergleichsweise zugänglich, was die Songs angeht.
