What’s the importance of being ‘stormborn’

The show likes to remind us 837489 times that Daenerys is stormborn but tf does that even mean?

Edit: yes I know it means she was literally born during a storm but what’s the importance of that

It means nothing realistically. However, in medieval times people were much more superstitious and fond of prophecy, and certain things were considered "omens" even if they were total coincidence.

Stormborn literally means she was born while a storm raged outside Dragonstone. For Targaryen loyalists, they no doubt see this as an omen of the storm Daenerys herself would bring, as though the power of her birth caused the actual storm.

I knew that storm born meant she was born during a storm I was just trying to figure out like what the importance of it was

Thanks!

Also, probably to help separate her from all the other Danys in the family.

She was born during a really bad storm, that's it.

I figured that much, was just wondering why it’s so important

As someone else said, it's probably just a superstition/nickname sort of thing.

Leramar89, kinda overcast afternoon born

I get it now!

Portents. It supposedly is viewed as meaning the child born that night will be powerful etc. (as with all that horse shit it ignores the fact there would have been thousands of children born that night, most of whom wouldn’t live beyond their first year or two).

What does "kingslayer" mean? Why is Barristan "the Bold"?

Yes I know that storm born means born during a storm but what’s the importance of it

King slayer is a powerful term with a heavy meaning, as is “the bold”

..but stormborn?

research it

She has 15K titles after her first name. This is just one of them. They all describe things that are supposed to be extraordinary and distinguish a person from the rest, showing their accomplishments. I know that her being born during a storm is not her own accomplishment, but in those times it might have been considered as a sign of someone of strong character. Stormborn and all her other titles just describe her and her life.

?

It's a sign of destiny! The storm is symbolic of chaos and change, and Daenerys' birth during it is seen as a sign that she was born to lead the people out of the chaos. It's meant to show that she was chosen by the gods to be the one who brings about great transformation.
