Fame star 'Leroy' dies at 41
Gene Ray, the actor and dancer best known for his role as Leroy in Fame, has died aged 41.
Like the character Leroy, Ray attended the New York High School of Performing Arts but he dropped out after a year.
After the Fame series, which ran from 1982 to 1987, he went on to appear in films, including Eddie with Whoopi Goldberg.
His mother, Jean Ray, said he suffered from HIV and complications arising from a stroke.
