My advisor said an Asian slur to describe a student and after I heard about it I reported it to my dean. They told me the advisor was undergoing different meetings to discuss what happened. I believe my advisor learned what they said was wrong. However I could not get over how in 2023, at this said to be progressive private school which promotes diversity a faculty member felt okay to say this on campus. I met with Ms. Moore and explained how I feel it should reminded once again school wide that racist comments cannot fly at our school. She said to me that “we do not make assemblies to shame teachers after they said something wrong” which I was oblivious not implying. I left the meeting near tears as she ended up making me feel bad.
