COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A Michigan man was sentenced to 14 years behind bars for an October 2016 shooting in south Columbus.

Jason J. Hicks, 38, pleaded guilty to kidnapping and involuntary manslaughter in February. He was initially charged with murder in the death of Anthony E. Brown, but he pleaded down.

Hicks and Anthony J. Robinson, 24, of Detroit, were arrested in November 2016 in connection with the death of Brown, 46.

Robinson was found guilty of murder in October and began serving a 15-years-to-life sentence in November.

Police arrived at the 400 block of E. Markison Ave. on Oct. 12, 2016, shortly before noon on the report of a shooting. They found Brown in the rear of a residence in the area, suffering from gunshot wounds.
