Today, we’ve had the Xbox Games Showcase, followed by a special feature about Starfield. And now, it’s the PC Gaming Show 2023. The Summer Game Fest 2023 train is not slowing down, and we’re enjoying the ride. We’ve had so many great announcements, and no matter what type of gamer you are, there’s undoubtedly been an announcement you’re excited for. If you missed the PC Gaming Show 2023, don’t worry: we’ve got all the announcements for you right here.
Frostpunk 2
The PC Gaming Show 2023 opens with a new trailer for Frostpunk 2, a follow-up to the cold-pocalypse survival game from 11 Bit Studios. It’s short and doesn’t give much away, but we have that to look forward to in 2024.
Teardown
Like tearing stuff down and getting super destructive? Teardown is for you. It’s been out on PC for a while, but there’s a new way to play coming soon: Creative Mode. You can create your own stuff! And then, presumably, destroy it. It’s coming next week, on 15th June.
Nivalis
Nivalis is a huge, futuristic city made up of voxels: its art style is stunning, and it’s a world that’s just begging to be explored. Exactly what you do in Nivalis is up to you: run a business, earn money, and climb up the rungs of society. Maybe you’ll find love, or maybe you’ll make some enemies. It looks pretty cool, actually, and we’re looking forward to seeing more. It’s coming in 2024.
Jumplight Odyssey
Fancy running your own spaceship? Then Jumplight Odyssey is for you. Control your crews, protect yourself from invasion, jump through space and escape evil space villains. All in a day’s work. There’ll be a free demo to play on Steam from 19th June.
Road to Vostok
This one’s a first-person survival shooter set in a bleak, post-war world. It looks rather grim, but if realistic shooters are your thing, definitely keep it on your radar.
Ebenezer and the Invisible World
Christmas, combined with demons and ghosts? This 2D side-scrolling metroidvania adventure looks rather intriguing, kind of like A Christmas Carol meets Castlevania. Yep, that’s exactly what it is. There’s a Steam demo available now.
Warhaven
Into Medieval combat? You might want to check out Warhaven, a free-to-play 16-vs-16 brawler. There’s a free-to-play demo coming next week, so perhaps give it a try.
DORF
Fancy some Max Max-style strategic combat? Sure you do. DORF’s retro style is certainly an acquired taste, but if you’re a fan of real time strategy, you’re going to want to pop this on your wishlist.
Sulfur
A cartoon-styled first-person shooter, Sulfur looks suitably intriguing. Gather loot, shoot your way through foes, meet NPCs, keep your weapons in tip-top shape and, most importantly, keep yourself alive. It looks bizarre, and we’re looking forward to finding out more. No release date just yet, though.
Saleblazers
Saleblazers is an open world shopkeeping game. Yep, you read that right. Build your own shop, head out to find stuff to sell, and, er, battle other shopkeepers? It looks weird, and it’s out on 29th September.
Eternights
Eternights is an action game meets dating sim, and that alone should be enough to grab you. Honestly, every new trailer we see of this game makes us more and more intrigued to jump on it. Not long to wait: it’s out in September.
Pax Dei
Pax Dei is an MMO fantasy game set in a rich world that’s rife to be explored. It’s a world filled with magic, myths and monsters. Its developers have drawn upon real medieval folklore and mythology to bring the world to life, which sounds fascinating.
Stampede Racing Royale
Want some Mario Kart-style karting action mixed with the chaos of a battle royale? Enter Stampede Racing Royale, a 60 player kart racing game from Sumo Digital. If you fancy testing your racing prowess against 59 other people, this is one for you. No release date, but playtests are coming this summer.
Mars Horizon 2
If you’ve always got your head in the stars, Mars Horizon 2 lets you send your own rockets into space as you manage your own space agency. There’s an alpha test coming soon if you fancy giving it a go: simply sign up at marshorizon2.com.
Path of Exile 2
Diablo 4 might be the only ARPG we can think about at the minute, but soon it’s going to have competition in the form of Path of Exile 2. It’s only a short trailer to whet our appetites, but we can find out more about the upcoming sequel on 28th July.
Ferocious
Ferocious is a first person action game set in a world inhabited by prehistoric creatures. Oh yes: it’s time to shoot some dinosaurs. Looks very cool, and we’re excited to see more.
Islands of Insight
This is a “shared world puzzle adventure game”, according to the trailer’s voice over. It’s a beautiful world to explore, with puzzles to be solved – but you won’t be alone as you make your way through the game, with others playing alongside you. If you enjoy a good puzzle, though, this is one worth keeping an eye on: looks like there’s a huge variety of different types on offer.
Lords of the Fallen
Here we’ve got another look at the upcoming Lords of the Fallen, a reboot of the 2014 game of the same name. It’s a soulslike game set in a medieval world filled with huge monsters waiting to be taken down.
Naheulbeuk’s Dungeon Master
If you’re into management simulators with a difference, this one might pique your interest. It’s all about building and designing your own dungeon to attract adventurers. Place guards to keep them out, rooms rife for exploring and more. It’s out this July.
Mariachi Legends
While the trailer for Mariachi Legends doesn’t give much away, we’re instantly intrigued. Looks like it draws on Mexican culture to bring the game world to life. Its pixelated art style is beautiful, although we’re not entirely sure what type of game it is yet. There seems to be side-scrolling action, storytelling and… maybe some detective work? It’s currently in development, so a release will be a way off yet.
Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin
A Warhammer game, Realms of Ruin throws you into battles against orcs and monsters. It’s a rich turn-based strategy game, and there’s an open beta between July 7th and 10th.
Citizen Sleeper 2
Citizen Sleeper is getting a sequel, and this cinematic trailer doesn’t give too much away about the game, but certainly highlights its intriguing and rich world. No release date just yet.
Critter Cove
Well, Critter Cove wins the award for being the most adorable trailer in tonight’s PC Gaming Show. Set sail in a homemade boat to the titular Critter Cover. There, go adventuring, make friends, hunt for treasures and resources, and generally live your best life. Build and improve the town, making the best darn Critter Cove you can. Sign us up.
Hidden Door
Hidden Door is an upcoming role-playing game that friends play together. Players choose the world they play in – an example given was The Wizard of Oz – and by using a deck of story cards, you can shape your own story based in that world. It takes traditional tabletop RPG gameplay and brings it to life in a video game, with the help of AI storytelling. We’re certainly intrigued to see this in action. It’s coming winter 2023.
Dread Pilots
Here’s a new game from Klei Interactive, the studio behind Don’t Starve. It’s a space exploration game packed with combat, narrative, and a wicked art style. It’s coming in 2024.
Undead Inc.
Undead Inc. is a management sim with a twist: it puts you in charge of an evil corporation that’s making zombies with some sort of superserum. You’re basically Albert Wesker, then, and we’re here for it.
Altered Alma
Here’s an action-packed 2D side-scrolling action game set in a futuristic world. Kill enemies, gain new skills, take down giant bosses, and generally kick ass. We really like the look of this one.
Invector: Rhythm Galaxy
Remember Avicii: Invector? This is the same gameplay, but with a more varied soundtrack. If you’re a fan of music rhythm games, then, this is one worth keeping your eye on. It’s coming to PC in July.
The Invincible
We tried an early preview build of The Invincible and absolutely loved it. This atmospheric adventure sees you explore a strange, hostile planet that killed your crew mates, and it’s up to you to figure out what’s going on. It’s out later this year, and we can’t wait to play more.
Park Beyond
We’ve previewed Park Beyond several times now, and if you’re a fan of park-building sims, you absolutely want this one on your radar. Park Beyond lets you build the theme park of your dreams, taking ordinary rides and “impossifying” them. It’s out this week: 16th June.
Pathfinder: Gallowspire Survivors
Like Vampire Survivors? Then you might be interested to learn more about Pathfinder: Gallowspire Survivors, which takes the enemy-slaying action of Vampire Survivors and throws it into the world of Pathfinder. Better yet, you can bring a friend along for the ride.
Diesel Legacy
Fancy a new fighting game? Here’s Diesel Legacy, a steampunk-inspired 2v2 fighting game with a range of unique characters. You can play against the CPU, battle friends locally or take the action online. It’s got a nice, clean 2D art style and we’re digging its setting. There’s a free demo available now on Steam.
Parcel Corps
Parcel Corps is essentially a modern-day Paperboy. Jump on a bike, grab a delivery bag and deliver stuff around town. Pull off cool bike tricks as you go, and have fun exploring the bright and colourful world. Well, as much fun as you can have when you’ve got a brutal police force out to get you, it would seem.
Fabledom
Fabledom is a magical world that’s yours to explore and shape. Oh yes, it’s another quaint life/building sim, but it looks adorable. It’s already out in early access, but there’s a new update available, and so now might be the time to check it out.
30XX
Here’s another look at 30XX, the sequel to Mega Man-inspired 20XX. If you enjoyed the first one (or you’re a fan of classic action-platformers), it certainly looks like this one is going to deliver. And it has co-op play this time too. It’s out in August.
Chimera
Chimera is a new survival game from Creepy Jar, the team behind Green Hell. Rather than being deep in the forest this time, you’re in a ruined wasteland of a futuristic world. The trailer doesn’t give much away, but we’re intrigued.
Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew
Fan of piratey things? This appears to be a stealth/strategy game The best thing here is definitely the song in the trailer: it’s going to be stuck in our heads all night.
Exo Rally Championship
From the creators of Exo One, this is a brutal and realistic off-road racing game, set in a hostile environment. Take control of a vehicle as it makes its way across a harsh and unforgiving landscape. Land killer jumps, avoid taking damage and keep on going.
Stormgate
Stormgate is a top-down real-time strategy game all about taking down enemy troops. There are multiple modes to play, and the trailer above shows off 1v1. There’s lots more to come, and if you want to sign up for the beta you can head to playstormgate.com.
Fortune’s Run
If retro first person shooters are your thing, then get a load of this. Switch between guns and swords as you battle your way through pixelated enemies. It’s out on 1st September.
Vampire Survivors update
The much-loved Vampire Survivors is getting more new content. Tomorrow. Huzzah!
Baldur’s Gate 3
Just a few months away from its full release, here’s a new cinematic, animated trailer for Baldur’s Gate 3. Don’t expect any new information about the game, but this is an entertaining little romp. It’s followed up with a much more informative chat with the devs, which you can watch here.
Ember Knights
Ember Knights is currently in early access, but it’s launching into version 1.0 this July. It’s a roguelike filled with intense co-op action.
Macabre
How about a sci-fi survival game set out in the wilderness? Expect supernatural stuff, time-bending, shape-shifting, weird-ass monsters and some blood-curdling violence. It looks pretty damn cool, actually.
Earthless
A world premiere trailer, Earthless is a roguelike strategy deckbuilder set in space. This beautiful trailer doesn’t give much away, but it seems you’ll be commanding a colony of ships as they try to find a new home. It’s coming to PC in 2024.
Nova Roma
Another city builder here, but this time set in ancient Rome. Survive floods, lightning strikes and more, and rebuild the city again and again, each time coming back a little bigger and stronger. It boasts a really nice art style that we’re loving.
Last Train Home
Another war game, and it’s “inspired by true events”. The trailer is largely live-action, and so we don’t get to see much of the game. It’s a real-time strategy game where your battles are interspersed with protecting a train filled with your soldiers. It’s nice to see something a little different in the genre, at least.
My Friendly Neighborhood
Sesame Street meets horror? We’re absolutely hre for that. There’s definite Five Nights at Freddy’s vibes here: you take on the role of someone working on a puppet TV set when said puppets suddenly come to life and try to kill you. Cue you using whatever you can find to take ’em down and keep yourself safe. It’s out on 18th July.
Breathedge 2
We loved the original Breathedge, which was something of a slapstick take on the space adventure genre. That one saw us aboard our spaceship, surviving out in the galaxy, and this time it looks like we’ll be causing havoc planetside. No release date, but this is definitely one to watch.
Bloomtown
Bloomtown looks a lot like your typical Stardew Valley-type game – at least to begin with. But this trailer assures us that not all is quite as it seems in this quaint little game. We’re intrigued to see more.
Sand
A brand new reveal, Sand is a multiplayer survival game set in a very sandy alternative future. This teasers doesn’t give much away about its gameplay, so we’ll have to wait some time to find out more.
Dune Awakening
