Nelson Peltz's hedge fund, Trian Partners, is in the middle of a vicious proxy fight for seats on Disney's board. But while arguing it can help Disney “restore the magic,” Trian is dealing with its own turmoil.

Its assets under management have dropped by billions of dollars and a power struggle prompted several employees to leave, including co-founder Ed Garden.

Some on Wall Street wonder whether Trian is nearing the end of its ride as one of the most feared activist hedge funds.
