Sad and lonely after the death of her mother, Casey (Lohan) would do anything to see her again. But when a series of mystic mishaps mistakenly bring her fasion doll "Eve" (Banks) to life instead, it changes Casey's world forever! Unhappy and lonely after her mother's death, Casey (Lindsay Lohan) attempts to resurrect her mother, but a minor mishap changes the results of her spell and brings an unwanted doll named Eve (Tyra Banks) to life instead. Eve is elated when she first encounters the smells and flavors of real life, but is shocked to realize that she's not the perfect role model she's always considered herself to be. Casey initially despises Eve--she never wanted this doll in the first place and now she's ruined her chances of bringing her mother back to life. But as Eve grows, she brings out the best in Casey, encouraging her to renew old friendships and spurring personal growth and healing. Even Casey's father (Jere Burns) rises above his grief and builds a better relationship with his daughter as a result of his interaction with Eve. This is an entertaining, 89-minute video that juxtaposes the stresses and disappointments of the real world, with their accompanying potential for personal growth, against what initially appears to be a stereotypically idyllic world. What makes the movie powerful is its suggestion that that ideal world is inherently flawed. Performances by Lindsay Lohan (The Parent Trap), supermodel Tyra Banks (Higher Learning), and Jere Burns (television's Something So Right) are very good. I actually loved this movie. I'm a Christian, so I had to get over the fact that the little girl was dabbling in the occult by trying to cast a spell to try to bring her mother back to life... But I totally understand the emotional pain of losing a parent, and the grief and loneliness that sometimes drives us to desperation (especially when the surviving parent is sort of absently lost in their own grief and leaves the child to their own imaginations). (The child effectively lost both parents, one to death and one to grief). Anyways, the spell went wrong, and it brought a Barbie (Eve doll) to life. But from there on the movie is totally charming- Eve's personality and actions are so "Barbie"- like , so upbeat and positive, and full of Barbie innocence, goodness, cliches, social activism and inspiration. She rubs off in a good way on Casey (her owner) and her dad, helping them overcome their grief. And they rub off on her also in a good way, helping her develop some deeper, more human, emotions. In effect, Eve was a great gift to this family. So yay, go God! Chalk one up for goodness and healing. 💖

As far as the dvd disc itself, I'd give it 1 star. It was supposedly a "new" DVD, however, the jacket was all cracked up, and there were scratches on the top side of the DVD (it didn't affect the playing). There was no damage to the envelope it was mailed in, so I can only assume they sent me a used DVD. I wasn't too happy about that, but the disc worked ok, so I didn't send it back.

I was in a nostalgia for my childhood phase and got this dvd for myself. I hadn't seen it in years! It comes in full screen only, but I think that's just how it was filmed since it was a made for TV movie, and not a theatrical release. It's still adorable, and it kinda holds up. It's about a girl who tries to bring her mother back from the dead but ends up bringing a doll to life instead. At first she is highly annoyed with the doll's overly happy take on life but then grows to love her by then end. Cute, family friendly movie. I recommend.

I ordered this movie for my daughter, and she and I have watched it over and over and over. It's a Disney movie, intended for kids I'm sure, but I enjoy it every bit as much as my daughter! It caught my attention from the very beginning and pretty much kept me glued to the screen until the end. And of course I had tears at the end, a couple of times throughout the movie actually, haha! Oh, the soundtrack is pretty catchy too. We always end up dancing to several of the songs. (I'm a silly mom who loves to make my kids laugh, if you can't tell by the fact that I'm enjoying a Disney movie so much!) And of course it has good lessons for the kids that are easy to come away with. The only downside is that the songs get stuck in your head! The movie is great though, and it came packaged brand new, plastic wrapped and all.

Eine flotte Disney-Komödie, die Spaß für die ganze Familie bietet. Natürlich lebt der Film vor allem von der kleinen Lindsay Lohan, die auch hier wieder zeigt, dass sie sich vor der Kamera in ihrem Element befindet, auch wenn sie hier noch sehr jung ist. Tyra Banks und auch die übrigen Darsteller bieten eine ansprechende Leistung, sodass kaum Langeweile aufkommt. Der Film bietet erfrischenderweise auch kein typisches Disney-Happyend.
Alles in allem kommt Life-Size natürlich nicht an Lindsays Debüt-Film The Parent Trap (Ein Zwilling kommt selten allein) heran, aber für jeden Lilo-Fan ist er ein Muß.
