James Forrest sets sights on agreeing new Celtic deal – sources

James Forrest is looking to land a new Celtic contract next season as he hopes to finish his career at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

Forrest has enjoyed a recent upturn in fortunes at Celtic Park after overcoming his previous injury issues.

The Scotland international knows his chances of earning a new deal will depend on his form next season and whether or not he picks up any major new injuries.

The 32-year-old winger’s current contract with the Glasgow club is set to run until June 2025.

James Forrest looking to land new Celtic contract

It’s been quite the comeback for Forrest at Celtic in recent weeks after forcing his way back into Brendan Rodgers’s starting lineup.

The Scotsman has scored four goals in his past six appearances, two of which came in the 2-1 victory over Dundee on 28 April.

The winger had scored just twice in his previous 19 games, leading to questions being asked about his long-term future at Celtic Park.

Football Insider previously revealed MLS clubs were interested in signing Forrest after he’d lost his place in the starting lineup under Rodgers.

The situation has now changed dramatically over the past few weeks, with the Celtic boss claiming Forrest is the “best winger” at the club.

If he can maintain his form over the coming weeks and take it into next season, the Hoops academy product is likely to be in with a good chance of seeing his deal extended.

But that will also largely be dependent on his fitness as he approaches the latter stages of his career following his previous injury woes.
