Following the release of his debut EP – The Astronaut Complex, and single with Smartface earlier this year; singer-songwriter Alt Bloom is back with another incredible release. With his brand new track, Text Talk Touch, released late last month; he’s teamed up with rapper, singer, songwriter, DJ and record producer – Gnash. An incredible collab, the pairs vocals blend perfectly together and provide a captivating energy, layered on top of mellow synths and gentle guitar beats.
With a smooth alternative R&B melody, that is utterly addictive; Text Talk Touch is the perfect “end of the summer” track to take us into fall cuffing season, as the flirtatious anthem talks about the various stages of a relationship as you move from texting, to talking, to finally meeting in person, and gradually falling in love. Incredibly relevant in this age of Covid, the track highlights the prevalence of online dating.
Alt Bloom (Ethan Thompson) explains the meaning and creative process behind the song as he talks about how “my co-writer Sebastian Kole and I had just come off a song writing retreat in Romania, but we hadn’t hit a song together yet. When we landed in LA, we booked a writing session together with The Orphanage. This song, “text talk touch” was written from top to bottom in about 10 minutes”
And to add to the track; last week, the pair released a stunning quarantine music video to go along with the single. With high 2020, quarantine energy; the visuals bring to life that online space we’ve all been engrossed in while in lockdown, and the reality of having to experience things virtually and from a distance. With captivating imagery and editing, the video is simple but effective. And while gently echoing the sentiment of the track, the visuals touch on the feelings and realities of online dating.
